If you’re anything like me, you sometimes find yourself up late at night replaying parts of the day through your head. It can make it tremendously difficult to fall asleep! I’ve been working on optimizing my bedtime routine, and make sure I:
- Avoid electronic devices after 8pm (keep your phone out of the bedroom!)
- Eat an earlier dinner, so I have plenty of time to digest
- Listen to a Calm “bedtime story” if I’m having trouble clearing my mind
Sometimes this just isn’t enough though – this is where supplements can help. I did my supplement research and discovered these 3 sleep supplements that have been scientifically proven to help you get a better night’s sleep.
1. Melatonin

A comprehensive 2016 study showed that melatonin is effective as a sleep aid. In this study, participants who took melatonin were both able to fall asleep faster and spend more time asleep.

Melatonin has long been used to help combat jetlag, but it’s more commonly now recommended as an everyday sleep supplement. The best thing about melatonin is that it’s easy to take. It’s just a simple pill I keep on my nightstand.
If you want even more of a treat, get yourself Good Day Chocolate. Yes, that’s right, it’s chocolate supplements with 1mg of Melatonin in it so you get a good night’s sleep AND a little treat. Yum!
2. Chamomile Tea

While not quite as convenient as my melatonin sleep supplement, brewing some chamomile tea is an incredibly relaxing and tranquil ritual.
Studies have shown that chamomile tea is especially effective in helping women sleep after childbirth. Just don’t drink so much that you’re getting up every hour to go the bathroom!
3. Lavender

It’s not exactly a sleep supplement, but ever since I started using a lavender spray on my pillows and sheets, I’ve really looked forward to hopping in bed at the end of the day. This isn’t just a placebo effect – lavender has actually been shown to help improve your quality of sleep.
One great way to incorporate lavender into your evening routine is to pop a few drops into an essential oil aroma diffuser. This makes your whole bedroom smell amazing. You can also get a lavender-infused mattress! Yeah, that’s actually a thing. BedStory Lavender Memory Foam Mattress is infused with lavender essential oil that acts as a natural air purifier and also relieves stress, so you can improve your sleep quality.
What’s working for you? I’d love to hear your tips for getting a great night’s sleep!
