I have a mystery subscription to Entertainment Weekly that shows up, well weekly and usually I just thumb through it and toss it. Well when I laid eyes upon this week’s Sex and the City issue, I teared up a bit and plopped my butt down to read up on all that is my Sex and the City girls. Similarly, my legit subscription to Marie Claire showed up with a little SJP action. This is how I am able to wait until the sequel to 2008’s emotional Sex and the City movie hits theaters.
From the very beginning of this show, I have longed to be a fashionista just like Carrie and the girls. After every episode I would troll the internet for the clothes they were wearing (which I usually had no way of affording or fitting into) and long to have even a fraction of their fictional lifestyle. Well obviously, I am no Sarah Jessica Parker… and let’s face it, some of Samantha’s actions have been questionable. But one thing that I know for sure is that Sex and the City inspires me, in a real life way, to be sexier and stylin’.
Whether, I could relate to an issue on the show or just had to have those clothes, I looked to these gals as a little bit of motivation to ramp up my wardrobe or have a little more sass at the club. Some readers might say that it is pathetic to long to be someone out of a tv show but those people would misunderstand where I am coming from. I don’t long to be a character or one of the actresses but rather I take inspiration from the creators of this mega awesome franchise because they have put together something that I feel is worthwhile and beloved. Can I get a Amen?!
Just in reading my EW this week, I was inspired to search out some new items to spice up my wardrobe for the Summer, not because it was similar to what the SATC girls are wearing but I was just ready to rock something fresh and somewhat exciting after getting my fix. Am I crazy?
