I’m a total bath junkie, always on the lookout for new products I might enjoy. This could seem frivolous. What you use to bathe can’t really matter, right? It’s the bathing itself that’s important.
Well, no. Here’s why I disagree:
- The shower and bath are sanctuaries. No matter what else is going on in your life, it’s a totally separate, necessary, and restorative break from the rest of the day. Using bath products that truly please you is a simple indulgence– and one that we all deserve!
- A good soap makes a tangible difference in your appearance. When your skin has that clean, nourished feeling, you feel better. And we all know that feeling great is the most basic beauty product around.
So I was thrilled to receive the three newest body washes from Softsoap for review. For the past week, I’ve been showering with Black Orchid & Velvet Hibiscus body wash. Here’s how Softsoap describes it:
Enriched with real hibiscus extract, this natural skin conditioner leaves skin silky soft and delicately scented.
And what was my experience?
SUDS: It works up a good lather– not overwhelmingly bubbly, but sufficient to leave me feeling clean. I use a quarter-sized dollop on a loofah and don’t have to reapply.
SCENT: A spicy floral blend that’s not quite my thing. Fragrance is so personal that it’s tough to evaluate, but in my body washes, I prefer citrusy or herbal scents. However, it isn’t overpowering at all– especially for a floral scent, and while the fragrance lingers on my skin after the shower, it just leaves a soft, clean, slightly sweet scent behind. If you like florals (particularly heady, exotic blends), I think you’ll like it.
RINSE: Here’s where this product excels. It goes on very silky— enough so that it’s kind of… sexy. It rinses totally clean and leaves my skin feeling soft and nourished.
This is a good choice for anyone looking for a moderately moisturizing body wash, especially for those who like spicy, floral scents. The silky texture alone makes it feel like an indulgent treat, despite its affordable price.
Softsoap Black Orchid & Velvet Hibiscus body wash is debuting this month and available at mass retail and grocery stores nationwide.
