Review Series: Avon Lotus Shield Frizz Control
I’m no scientist, but if I were, this is the kind of experiment I’d perform:
I’d have one woman with fabulous hair and one woman with terrible hair run a foot race. If my hypothesis is correct, Ms. Rapunzel Locks would clock in well ahead of Ms. Brillo Pad Head.
That’s because we all know how empowering great hair can be. It’s the best accessory you can have– sending you sashaying around town looking like you have a house on the Mediterranean, all the time in the world, and naturally low cholesterol. Basically: GOLDEN.
And on those days when your hair doesn’t cooperate? Well, let’s just say that the entire House of Chanel can’t compensate for a bad hair day. Nothing brings you down faster!
Like most women, then, I’m always on the lookout for good hair products– whether they be shampoos, conditioners, leave-ins, styling treatments, brushes, or tools. My current regime consists of a high-end smoothing shampoo and conditioner, a spa brand anti-frizz treatment and bodifiying spray, lots of blowdrying, and moderate touch-ups with a straightening iron. I’m not gonna lie; it takes some work, but when I get it right, I’m happy with the results.
So when Avon reached out to TFH for an extended review of its new ADVANCE TECHNIQUES Lotus Shield Frizz Control, I jumped at the chance to try it out. Here’s why:
- Like the lotus leaf it’s named for, Lotus Shield adds a “waterproof” layer to hair, actually repelling moisture, which means no more slaving away to style my hair only to lose it when the weatherman delivers high humidity.
- Avon claims that one application of Lotus Shield keeps hair “manageable and well-behaved for three smooth and sleek days.” So one-third the work? Could it be?
- It’s $12!!! I don’t think you need me to explain why that’s a good thing.
But does it actually work? Well, for the next two weeks I’m going to try it out and let you know what I think. Since this is an extended review, I’ll put it through multiple washes and wears before coming up with a verdict. Stay tuned to find out if Lotus Shield is all it’s cracked up to be…

Having spent alot many days on the beach, where humidity and hair frizz go hand in hand, I cana tell you that products only work so far. If you really want smooth, frizz free shiny hair, get that Brazilian Blowout everyone is talking about. It really works, cuts down blow drying time in half ( i timed it), you won’t regret it! Just ask a reputable hairdresser who has been trained in the teqnique and be prepared to pay from $200- $300, but who’s counting??
My stylist introduced me to the Shielo Bounce Style Creme to me about 6 months ago and I have been using it ever since. It helps control the frizz, even when its very humid out. It also makes your hair very soft and shiny without weighing it down.
I have a short cut and I still have lots of body when using this. You only need a small amount too which is great because a bottle lasts you a long time. Just be careful not to use too much or your hair could look greasy.
