Let me start by saying that I can be pretty lazy about makeup removal sometimes (I know, it’s a terrible habit.) That’s why I was so excited for the opportunity to review the new Yes To Cucumbers Eye Makeup Remover Pads. Anything I can use that makes makeup removal a cinch is a must for me, so I was really hopeful these would live up to my expectations. For my full review, please keep reading after the break.
First of all, these makeup remover pads are 99% natural as well as ophthalmologist and dermatologist-tested. The ingredients are:
- Organic Cucumber – This helps soothe and soften skin
- Chamomile – Soothes, tightens and hydrates skin while helping calm irritation
The directions say to gently smooth the pad over closed lids – no rinsing required.
First Impressions:
While I was impressed with the number of pads included, they are all packaged together and have a tendency to stick. Just be really mindful of this fact so you don’t end up using more pads than you think you are. I liked that they come packaged in a jar instead of one of those “resealable” packages, because they won’t dry out as quickly. Additionally, I appreciate the fact they contain natural ingredients, so I was hopeful it wouldn’t irritate or burn my eyes like some makeup removers can.
First Use:
The pads are really a no-brainer to use; just swipe and you’re done. It took off my eyeshadow and mascara really well, but my gel liner stayed put. I don’t blame this on the pads, though – my gel liner is super difficult to get off with ANY makeup remover I’ve tried! They do have a fairly strong cucumber scent, so if you don’t like that smell these may not work for you. However, I find it very clean smelling and natural, so that’s a bonus. The scent doesn’t linger, either.
While one pad may be enough to take off some makeup, I found I needed to use one pad for each eye, which isn’t that big of a deal considering how many you get. I don’t plan to use these every day, either, only on my “lazy” days so they will last longer that way.
Overall:
Overall, I am quite pleased with these eye makeup remover pads. They take the majority of my makeup off cleanly without burning or irritation, and they didn’t dry out the sensitive skin around my eyes. I definitely prefer these to my usual eye makeup remover, which is very oily and often burns (but it does the job.) If you don’t mind the cucumber scent and are careful to peel apart the pads so you’re only using one instead of a whole bunch, these are a great value for your buck.
