I’d been excited to try Smashbox O-GLOW Intuitive Cheek Color ($26) for a very long time, but was hesitant because of the price. A few months ago, however, I actually received it as a gift and couldn’t wait to try it out!
First Impressions
According to the package, this cheek color contains Goji-Berry C Complex and other antioxidants to improve skin health; additionally, the blush is supposed to mimic a natural looking flush that reacts with your skin tone to create the perfect shade for you.
When I first squeezed a little out of the tube, I noticed it comes out clear but instantly turns into a pink hue when it reacts with your skin. A little goes a long way, ladies! The gel blush goes on smoothly and easily blends into cheeks without feeling goopy or messy.
I have very fair skin, so when the blush reacted with my skin chemistry it was a very natural looking rosy flush; the color my cheeks would be naturally when I blush. I was impressed – it really seemed to work! It took a few tries until I was able to find the perfect amount of product to use (a tiny dab is seriously all you need) but I was very happy with the results. It also blended well over my regular makeup and wasn’t too harsh or clown-ish.
Longevity
Smashbox O-Glow doesn’t make any claims as to how long their product should last, but I was able to get about 4 hours wear before it started to fade. Compared to most powder blushes I’ve used, this lasts a lot longer and is much easier to touch-up on the go, since you don’t need anything but a mirror and your fingers! I didn’t use a setting spray or powder, so this blush could definitely last longer when used in conjunction with one of those products.
Overall
On a scale of 1 to 5, I would give Smashbox O-Glow Intuitive Cheek Color 4 stars. I was happy with the natural-looking flush, as well as how long the color lasted before fading. I can’t say I’ve noticed any skin-improving benefits, either. The only thing I would prefer is if it were cheaper, but considering you only need a tiny amount, I am confident the tube will last for quite some time.
