I’ve been hearing a lot of positive experiences when it comes to shopping with a personal stylist. Basically, professionals manage to capture the way you dress, and also recommend outfits that you may not necessarily have even thought about. It seems these stylists perhaps know you better than you know yourself!
However, it’s not always possible to find the time and motivation to go downtown and try on outfits in a store. Even though having a personal stylist in the room is comforting and helpful, there are days when I simply feel like shopping, but don’t feel like leaving the house! There are so many great places to shop online, but I longed for something that would combine online with personalized. Enter Trunk Club.
I’d heard of Trunk Club as a personalized online shopping site for men, but I recently discovered that they’ve expanded their range and now cater for women as well. Lucky us! It’s not surprising that websites like Trunk Club are appearing into view, as a lot of my creative and tech friends tell me of companies like 1&1, that really take the stress and struggle out of building an online store.
As for what makes Trunk Club so special, read on. The shopper starts out by completing an online style survey, but thankfully not an exam in which you have to answer 50 questions by stating how you feel about something on a range from 1-5. Instead, you choose up to three styles that best emulate your own, enter your height and weight, then select what your measurements are regarding tops, dresses, pants, waist, shoes, and finally bra band and cup size. It’s easy button-clicking and can be done in around one minute.
Next, fill out some personal details along with your email address, and you’ll be assigned a personal e-stylist, who you can chat to and discuss further details about the types of outfits you’re looking to purchase. After some chatting and sending some possible ideas to your email address, your stylist will send your “trunk” to your door, and then you’ll have a full 10 days to try out your items at your leisure. After making a decision, you can simply keep and pay for the items you like, and send back (free of charge) the items you’re not interested in.
I’m yet to try it out, but I really love the notion of having 10 days to get to know the outfits sent to me. I can try them on with my current clothing, see them in different lighting, and really get an idea of how they feel after a few hours of wearing (especially the case for shoes). Also, the thought that there’s no salespeople around to push me to purchase anything hastily, sounds very nice. That said, if you do feel like you need someone physically there to assist with style tips, Trunk Club do have one-on-one appointments available at several locations around the US, namely Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, and Washington D.C.
So if the time comes that you’re in the mood for a new outfit, but without the desire to leave your house (especially in these chilly months), then it’s well worth giving these online methods a go.
