You should be relaxing with a glass of wine or a shot of Alacran Cristal Tequila the night before you go away for Memorial Day Weekend. Instead, you’re usually running around trying to pack your suitcase at the last minute. Do you throw in too much stuff because you don’t know exactly what to take? Or do you forget something important like sunscreen?
I think you’ll find it a lot easier if you pack a few essentials first. You will have less to worry about when the weekend rolls around. Hopefully, you can get away with taking a lighter suitcase too. So here is our Memorial Day Weekend Packing Guide with a list of items you don’t want to forget:
1. Kaftan Dress
If you had a selection of kaftan dresses in your suitcase you would hardly need to pack anything else. They’re comfortable enough to wear during the day when you’re relaxing at the swimming pool or beach.
When you decide to have a few drinks at lunch you won’t need to change before going to the bar. You’ll even be able to wear them to various places at night. You should take at least one beautiful kaftan dress with you. They are the new maxi dress and a must-have for your wardrobe which is why they are number 1 on our Memorial Day Weekend Packing Guide.
2. Platform Sneakers
Athletic wear has become a lot more popular over the years thanks to clothing like yoga pants. If you wore platform sneakers to a family restaurant nobody would think you were underdressed. They can be worn throughout the day too.
You’ll be able to wear them if you plan to do a lot of walking over the weekend. Whether you go to a parade with the kids, a museum, or the zoo, you’ll be prepared for lots of walking and sure to be comfy with a pair of cute platform sneakers.
3. Two Bikinis
Bikinis won’t take up lots of space inside your suitcase, but you should still just take a couple with you. It will stop you from wasting lots of time deciding which one you like best and when you’re wearing one bikini the other will be drying on your balcony. If bikinis aren’t your thing and you’re looking for something a little more modest, there are a number of beautiful one piece swimsuits available nowadays.
4. Little Black Dress
Even if you’re going on holiday with your kids, I’m sure you’ll want to look stunning every night. If you’re going somewhere fancy you can throw on a little black dress. It has one big advantage over most clothes.
A LBD will look fantastic when you pair it with other items of clothing. Wear a cardigan over it when you’re feeling chilly. Thanks to the dark color it will look presentable even if it’s been squashed up.
5. Woven Straw Sunhat
Anyone flying to a hot destination should wear a hat at all times. It’s important to protect yourself from the sun. Sunscreen might not be enough to protect your head if you spend lots of time outside every day.
A woven straw sunhat is the ideal choice because it goes with anything. You can also wear it out at night if you feel like accessorizing. There are so many available you’ll be able to find one you love.
6. Light Cardigan
It’s hard to tell what you’ll do on holiday before you get there. You won’t always want to spend time lying at the pool. There might be a few day trips you can go on, but spending hours in air-conditioned transportation isn’t nice.
If you have a nice light cardigan you’ll be able to slip it on when it’s too cold. It will hardly take up any room in your suitcase. You can also carry it to restaurants in case you’re sitting outside and it’s a bit windy. It might be last on our Memorial Day Weekend Packing Guide but it’s one of the most important!
