  1. Have you tried Mary Kay products. The eye makeup remover does not sting and it really does remove the makeup. I use (and sell) all their products and love them.

  2. I use a face cream on a tissue to take off my makeup. First I wash my face with soap and water then I dry it off with a towel (making sure to lightly rub my eyelashes. Then I take a little bit of face cream and dab it onto a tissue and lightly rub off all of the excess makeup left over from washing my face. It may seem like a process, but I don’t get the black makeup gunk under my eyes when I wake up in the morning.

I have also used in the past Clinique eye makeup remover ( which I have liked)

  3. I’ve been using Garnier Nutritioniste detoxifying wet cleansing towlettes. I also use the Lashblast mascara. This product works great and also inexpensive.

  4. I have tried one billion and one make-up removers, (by the way, I seriously do not understand how make-up remover costs as much as the make-up itself. that just seems wrong!) and by far, the easiest, cheapest, and least painful way I have ever found is Pampers wipes. They’re incredibly soft, get off all my eye make-up, and even help when using liquid eyeliner in an attempt for a straight line. I usually use Clinique to clean the rest of my face, but my eye make-up… well, usually does its job. It doesn’t move. Hope this helps!

  5. Forget all of those expensive makeup removers…vaseline does the job, and there’s no sting or irritation.

  6. Vaseline. And kleenex or baby wipes. I put it on and let it sit there for a little bit, but it doesn’t sting or anything. Nothing sticks to vaseline. Plus, its cheap. I get a big tub for $3. It works best for eye makeup. I use a baby wipe for foundation when I’m too lazy to wash it off with face soap.

  7. I used to use a facial tissue with baby oil but found olive oil works just as well and is better for your skin.

  8. Any one of several, I have everything from Lancome and Clinique to plain old Vaseline. Not because they don’t work for me, just because I am a product junkie! But out of everthing I have, my favorite, and what I usually use, is good old-fashioned Pond’s Cold Cream. Just seems so Old Hollywood to use it and it does a great job for me!

  9. I just wash my face with Johnson and Johnson purpose face wash, first of all the face wash is awesome and won’t clog pores and it really gets rid of the mascara. Before I wash off mascara though I always wet my fingers and run them over my lashes a few times to get the heaviest bit off.

  10. Ugh!!

I no longer use make-up remover if i can help it, a bit of castor oil and olive oil mixed works just fine for me!

  11. I have really sensitive eyes & wear contact lenses. I finally found a mascara that stays on without smudging but is tough to get off. I wear Estee Lauder Double Wear Zero Smudge Lengthening Mascara. I use Lancome Bi-Facil eye makeup remover first. It doesn’t sting. Then I use Olay Daily Facials Lathering Cleansing Cloths. This works well for me. The eye makeup remover lasts a long time & the wipes are great for travel.

  12. Boots Botanics EMUR is great, soothing on the eye, and I was only stung once when I was being sloppy & actually got it onto the eye. Otherwise it takes everything off great! Even hard to remove mascaras & eye lines that are in the lash line. Plus I can put cool it in the fridge then put on my puffy eyes & it soothes that & dark circles away!

Lancome’s new “oil” EMUR really works too — but oh my G-d STINGS if you get it anywhere near the lashes! Of course it works, it is oil based! But the essential oils in it, make it sting. If you want to DIY, use a pure sweet almond oil to do it, it should give you the great results w/o the sting.

  13. I wear Covergirl LashBlast in Black also, and I use generic baby shampoo to remove all my eye make-up. I wet my face, put a little baby shampoo on my fingertips, gently rub on my eyes, and rinse off. It works wonderfully and is tear free!!

  14. I have been very fond of The Body Shop’s Chamomile Eye Make Up Remover. I’ve used it for ~ 10 years. I was using the liquid & have since switched to the lotion. It is very gentle & is not irritating. Give it a try and let me know your thoughts.

    Enjoy,

  15. I use Pond’s cold cream to remove makeup. It works great for mascara too. Baby oil is good to remove eye makeup

  16. Thank you everyone so much for all these awesome suggestions!

You know I never though of using olive oil, coconut oil, almond oil, castor oil, or baby oil. Looks like either way, oil seems to be what works eh?

Don’t you have to be really careful not to get it anywhere on the rest of your face and only use it on your eye makeup, lest your have a major acne breakout? I would think that would be dangerous…

My mom swears by olive oil and coconut oil. She drenches herself in one of the other when she gets out of the shower. I do love coconut oil, but never thought it would remove makeup?!

And baby wipes, heck yeah I have a tons of those in the house! Hello, 18 month old in here! I didn’t think to try those.

You guys must think I’m a moron, but honestly I never used to wear makeup that much and I never had a problem removing it. It seems like the heavy duty lash building and lengthening mascaras are just a burden to get off. No matter what I do to clean them, I still wake up with major raccoon eyes…

I’m going to try a few of these suggestions and let you know what works best for me! Thanks to all of you for your input!!!!

  17. It’s funny but oil dissolves oil, so this method is actually pretty good for your face. (when used in moderation ofcourse). It works well with my skin, which gets a tad bit oily (so i use 75% castor oil, and 25% olive oil). I only do this every other day, and on off days I use a gentle cleanser made for sensitive skin to prevent being stripped dry. It works, my skin has improved, and I haven’t sprouted a pimple since I started doing this.

  18. To take off mascara,I use baby oil.To take off foundation and blush and lipstick,I use Ponds. My mom used Ponds and it works well.

  19. Baby oil– followed up by your normal face wash– works every time and fights wrinkles too!

  20. I use Bliss lid + lash wash. It doesn’t sting. The biggest plus is that it is not a liquid/oil, but a gel, so it really drenches to gets everything off. I keep it in the fridge, and it feels incredible on tired eyes at the end of the day.

  21. UPDATE: Okay I tried baby wipes and that worked really well on my foundation and eyeshadow, but barely budged my eyeliner or mascara.

Going to try some oil or some sort next time. Will let you know how that works.

Jules, you’ve definitely peaked my interest about the Bliss one… I might try that!

  22. Very interesting ideas for makeup removal…
I still say any type of oil,,,, But especially BABY OIL… does the trick on
mascara removal everytime… I have always used it…love it everytime. Try it.
    Patti

  23. My favorite eye makeup remover is made by Mary Kay. It is very gentle on the eyes. Lancome double action eye makeup remover is also gentle on the eyes and works very well.

  24. many beauty enthusiasts swear by no-tears baby shampoo like johnson and johnson’s! haven’t tried it, but it’s logical…hypoallergenic, no sting to the eyes, cleans hair… =)

  25. Thanks Julie, I think I’ll try that because at this point, I’ve tried like 4 other brands, all making my eyes sting and become red and irritated, plus it doesn’t even get the mascara off.

So far, the best thing that gets mascara off if sleeping… then it all ends up under my eyes at which point it’s easier to remove….

There has to be a better way!!!

Since mascara is the one product I won’t live without, removing it has become the bane of my existence…

  26. I get super puffy eyes in the morning after using Vaseline. Almost like an allergic reaction. I swiched to Blinc Kiss Mascara that doesn’t flake and comes off with warm water. Love IT!

  27. I use Neutrogena Make Up Remover Pads. After using them on eyes, after you think all of your make up is off, splash a little bit of water on your face. The mascara and eye shadow still on your eyes will come off, and you can use the pad again to remove the rest of the residue if there is any.
