One of my New Year’s resolutions was to clean and organize my house so I can feel happy with every room in my home. I thought it was important to finish the bathroom before tackling any other rooms in the house. I envision a retreat away from it all. I wanted my bathroom to have a clean, fresh look, like a hotel bathroom, so when I do get my 15 minutes of alone time away from it all to go and take a shower I can relax and feel like I’m in my favorite resort down in Orlando, Florida.
If you are a busy mom like me, getting time alone in the bathroom actually feels like a luxury! Can I hear an amen?! My idea of an at-home retreat would be locking myself in the bathroom with my iPad, a candle, and some nail polish! Even 10 minutes alone to decompress from the busy day-to-day drama is so important for a mother. If we don’t take care of ourselves, we can’t effectively take care of others.
I knew it would be easy to finish the spa / farmhouse look I wanted for my bathroom if I went to Target. They always seem to have exactly what I need, exactly what I’m looking for, and always at prices I can afford, which makes decorating my home the way I want completely attainable.
I looked to Pinterest for some inspiration even though I already had a pretty good idea of what I wanted. I then went on Target.com to search for the specific items I knew would be crucial to creating that spa-like feel I was going for.
Loads of white, fluffy towels were obviously a must. Another key element was of course a bright, white waffle-weave shower curtain to make it feel like one of those fancy day spas.
All of the faucets, fixtures, and hardware in the bathroom are chrome, so I decided to keep with that color scheme for the shower-curtain rod and hooks as well. In addition to a few splashes of fresh greenery here and there, I decided to keep everything white, including getting a beautiful Nate Berkus bath runner in bright white.
Target has tons of stylish storage baskets and buckets, so you can organize every room of the house. It was easy for me to find a lined bath basket to keep the toilet paper in on the back of my toilet tank.
I also found an amazing wire storage basket to store clean towels in near the shower so people won’t get the floor soaking wet going from the bathroom to the hallway closet to get a towel, which is what we’ve been doing.
It was easy to create an at-home retreat in my farmhouse-style bathroom with all these stylish new storage and organization items, towels, decor accents, and a crisp, new shower curtain. I love how my bathroom looks now! I especially love this cute little candle that says “breathe deep.” It’s the perfect final touch to this relaxing space.
As a busy mom, finding five minutes to be by myself is RARE, but at least I know when I do get that precious time alone, I can relax in my new personal oasis. Is it crazy that my bathroom is now one of my favorite rooms in the house?!
