I wanted to take a minute to answer a question someone asked on Tuesday.
A reader asked:
“Is there any clothes that would be good for having kids? I LOVE lacey tanks that I wear under a V shirt to give it a bit of glitter but my kid tends to pull it down.
My lace tank starts up on the middle of my chest in the morning as it’s freshly washed but by the end of the day, you could just see the edge of my bra and too much of my cleavage. How do I avoid that?”
It sounds like the problem here is a 100% cotton shirt! Now, in the fashion industry today, synthetic materials are frowned upon, but I know from experience that it’s hard to wear natural fabrics around kids. If you want your clothes looking the same from morning till night, you want to look for shirts that have spandex in them. A cotton / spandex blend will give you comfort and the shirt will keep it’s shape all day long.
A cami like this one would be great:

It’s a cotton / spandex blend that has the cute lacey crochet detailing along the neck line. It would be perfect for layering under a deep v-neck shirt, or under a great fitted blazer.

And here is another lace trim cami that is perfect for layering:

The key ingredient to clothes that don’t stretch out, is spandex!! Keep that in mind when shopping and check the tags for fabric content. Also, when buying a cami to layer under a shirt, you want to make sure it’s tight fitting. This will keep it tight against your body and prevent flashing your bra or too much cleavage!
