There are some great on-line shopping clubs that offer fantastic discounts and deals on everything from designer duds to household basics. ย And it seems that new “invite only” shopping sites are cropping up on a daily basis. ย But before you accept your exclusive invitation or make an impulse purchase, be sure to read the fine print.
I was recently “invited” to join a new group called Just Fabulous (justfab.com) that seemed, well, just fabulous. ย Just Fabulous is a shoe shopping group that delivers monthly designer shoe selections to your email in-box. ย The designs are based on style criteria that you select, and each pair is just $39.99. ย You can choose to purchase or not purchase any number of the selections, and even keep browsing in different categories if you’re in the mood for a pair of flats rather than heels this month.
Here’s the catch: ย once you make a purchase for $39.99 you are automatically billed $39.99 EVERY MONTH even if you don’t buy anything. ย You can opt out for the month, provided that you do it by a certain date, but I have a hard enough time remembering to brush my teeth every day, let alone opt out of a pair of shoes that I may or may not want.
So, as with most things, go ahead and indulge your shopping habit, but be mindful and present, and know just what that deal really is before pressing the “accept” button.
