Instructions to Make Donuts
Step One
Combine 1/2 teaspoon of your granulated sugar, yeast, and water in a bowl. Allow the ingredients to sit at room temperature for five or six minutes. Combine your salt, flour, and remaining sugar (1/4 cup) into a larger bowl. Now itโs time for you to add the following ingredients: milk, egg, yeast, and butter. Stir these ingredients with a large spoon. Your dough should come together after stirring for a few minutes. Make sure you check for consistency.
Transfer your dough on a lightly floured surface, and knead it for one to two minutes. This should be enough time for it to become smooth. Place the dough onto a lightly greased bowl. Cover the bowl and allow your dough to rise. It will take about one hour for your dough to rise at room temperature.
Step Two
Carefully spoon your dough onto a floured surface (lightly floured). Now itโs time for you to exercise your patience. Roll your dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Keeping your dough at this thickness will help you create fluffy donuts.
Itโs now time for you to use a three-inch round cutter and a one-inch round cutter. These cutters will help you create donuts like a baking professional. Take the three-inch round cutter and cut out eight donuts. Remove the center with the one-inch round cutter.
Place your doughnut holes and donuts on a lightly floured pan. Cover them with plastic wrap, and allow them to sit for half an hour. They should expand and rise without any problem.
Step Three
You are close to having delicious doughnuts at your disposal. Itโs now time for you to cook these bad boys. Carefully place two donuts and two doughnut holes in your air fryer basket. Cook them at 350 degrees until they are golden brown. They should be done within four to five minutes.
It normally takes only four to five minutes to cook your donuts and doughnut holes. Keep your eye on the clock because you donโt want to make the mistake of overcooking them. At the end of the day, you want soft donuts. Now itโs time for you to repeat the process with your remaining donuts and doughnut holes.
Step Four
Pour your tap water into a bowl. Add your powdered sugar and whisk away. Whisk the water and powdered sugar until the ingredients are smooth. This is probably the easiest way to create a delicious glaze for your donuts.
Dip your air dryer donuts and donut holes into your glaze. Make sure you donโt overdo it. You donโt want to run out of glaze.
Place your donuts and doughnut holes on a baking sheet (rimmed). Let them sit at room temperature for about ten minutes. This will give the glaze an opportunity to drip off.
Step Five
Itโs time to serve your warm and tasty donuts. Your guests will enjoy them. Don’t be surprised if they ask for the recipe.
