Being a mom ofย THREE fire breathing dragonsย beautiful kids is a lot of work, especially when we have to actually leave the house! After having our third child, we decided to get a minivan. I did manage to fit 3 car seats in the back seat of our Honda Civic, but that arrangement is far from ideal. So we bought a used,ย white 2004 Dodge Caravan! We named him Olaf.
Driving safely and having the kids in a proper child safety seat is important to me. While I’m grateful to haveย a minivan to tote around my 3 kids in, I must admit that it is neither fancy, nor anything to write home about. It gets the job done though! You don’t need a fancy, expensive minivan to get your family safely from point A to point B, but you may need directions from time to time and that’s where Garmin comes in!
Obviously, my old jalopy doesn’t have a built in GPS and when we are headed some place unfamiliar, this can cause issues. I can use the maps app on my iPhone but then my phone is sitting on my lap and I have to keep looking down at it or I try to rest it in front of the speedometer and we all know that isn’t a very good idea. Of course, having a Personal Navigation Device like the Garmin Drive would be much better and safer too!
The Garmin Drive 50 is an easy-to-use, dedicated GPS navigator with 5.0-inch dual-orientation display. The unit safely attaches to the windshield and stays in your line of sight so you don’t have to go searching around the floor of your vehicle for your dropped cell phone. Garmin Drive comes preloaded with detailed maps of the US (or the US and Canada depending on the model selected). Plus,ย Garmin Real Directionsโข feature user-friendly guides and gives directions using landmarks and traffic lights like a friend would. You can even locateย new and popular restaurants, shops and more with Foursquare!ย Best of all, it now provides alerts like school zones, speed changes, upcoming sharp curves,ย and more, to keep you and your passengers alert and aware of everything around you, without being distracting.
As if that wasn’t exciting enough, Garmin just introduced the Garmin babyCamโข. I need it, I want it, and lucky for me, I get to try it out and review it later this month! I can hardly wait! I can’t wait to show you how it works in conjunction with your Garmin to provide you real time viewing of your rear facing child in their safety seat.
I have my 8 year old rides in a Clek booster seat in the third row with my 5 year old son in a Diono 5-point-harness. My 2 year old is in a rear facing Britax in the middle row so being able to see how he’s doing while driving is obviously quite challenging. I generally have to rely on my 8 year old telling me what and how he’s doing. So, needless to say,ย I’m really excited to try out theย Garmin Drive 50 in conjunction with the newย Garmin babyCam so I can keep an eye on my youngest while driving!
