Around this time every winter I get so tired of my clothes. My standard uniform is jeans or leggins with a sweater or bulky shirt. I start longing for cute t-shirts and dresses , strappy sandals and short skirts. But alas, I live in a heavy snow cimate (particularly heavy this year) so jeans and boots remain the go-to items in my closet.
I recently bought a couple of long chiffon skirts, and they have been the the perfect thing to make me get excited about getting dressed in the morning. While seemingly impractical, these skirts are surprisingly functional, look great with clunky boots like Uggs or biker boots, and work great over leggings or even jeans. You can style them for a feminine look with a tidy sweater and flats, or go all out with rugged accessories. They’re also great if you’re injured (like I am) and have to wear a less than fashionable brace on your knee!
Here are my favorite choices for floaty skirts:

This skirt comes in several colors and is very comfortable. The elastic waistband allows you to roll it over for different lengths.

This skirt makes me feel like a princess! It looks great with my Uggs and a long sweater and belt. I get compliments on it every time I wear it, even though you would think people would ask if you were going to a fancy ball rather than the grocery store!

This skirt works great with skinny jeans underneath. The fabric is super lightweight and sheer, and you can adjust the length by rolling the waist band up or down. It even works at a strapless dress!
So if you are looking for a quick fix to the winter wardrobe doldrums, try a lightweight skirt. The best part is, the right skirt will last you well into the spring and summer as well.
