Did you know that you eye health is really important? No, really! I mean, think about how much you use your eyes. Like, all day long, right?!

Just like all the other muscles in our body, our eyes need care and maintenance too in order to maximize their performance. Do you want your eyes doing a slow walk or sprinting to the finish line?

Think About Your Eyes is a national public awareness campaign that is working on getting the word out to everyone about the benefits of eye health and urging people like you to make sure you are making time to get your annual comprehensive eye exam.

Think About Your Eyes recently surveyed a bunch of members in national fitness center chain Life Time Fitness, and discovered some shocking results! Even avid gym-goers tend to neglect their eye health despite being very health conscious and focusing on their body and overall fitness.

[bctt tweet=”#ThinkAboutYourEyes! Eye exams can be as important as a physical in determining your health! Find out why ” via=”no”]

By getting an annual comprehensive eye exam, eye problems can be detected early on when they’re most treatable. It’s one of those things that we know in the back of our minds, but we tend to avoid it anyway. Like going to the dentist. But hey, we’ll talk about that another day…

I know you’re busy. I am too! It’s so easy to put off things like eye exams and procrastinate taking care of yourself, especially if you are a mom. We do so much for everyone else and we make sure our kids are happy and healthy while we’re struggling on the sidelines. Such is the life of a mom! Honestly, I haven’t had my eyes checked since january of 2012 at my local Lenscrafters. I literally had no idea it was that long ago until I decided to look it up while writing this post… *head desk*

And now I know that I need to schedule an exam ASAP. Not only because I can tell my vision has gotten worse in the past few years, but also because I haven’t had my eyes checked in over 4 years and that’s just not smart. I now know what I have to do and I am going to make sure I clear my schedule next week in order to get my eyes checked!!!

You should do it too! Don’t even think about it another second. Drop what you’re doing right now and visit the Think About Your Eyes eye care professional locator to find an eye doctor near you and schedule an exam for yourself!
