When it comes to decorating my home for Christmas, I only have one rule: No colored lights in the house! Pretty much everything else goes.
My holiday decor style is a little bit classic, a little bit rustic and a little bit luxe. I try to strike a blend between the three styles and I like to think I hit the nail on the head.
It’s easier than you think to marry your decorating styles together for the holiday season if you use clever equations!
Don’t believe me? I’ll prove it to you! I put together two holiday home equations I think you’ll love, one for my living room and the other for my kitchen.
White tree + metallic accents + luxe throw pillows = a glam yet cozy living space!
My husband couldn’t even hold me back when I went into the decoration section in Target. All the pretty colors, lights and glitter. I could hardly contain myself. I knew I’d be able to find everything I needed at Target. One-stop shopping for everything I needed to decorate my entire house in this season’s hottest and trendiest pieces. As I walked around Target, I had no trouble finding exactly what I needed (and a few things I wanted).
I’m sure I looked like a crazy woman with three children in tow and a cart completely full of holiday decorations. I was surprised how well I did when the cashier rang in my total. Plus I got an extra 5% off by using my Target REDcard. Score!
The addition of metallic accents, like the silver snowflakes on the tree, and natural elements, like the faux fur blanket as a tree skirt, both complete the space and make for an unconventional yet beautiful scene.

Kitchen Island + berry tree + hot cocoa = an inviting spot for friends and family to gather!
Thankfully, this last weekend, my husband and I were able to finish off a few key parts of the kitchen remodel, like installing a beadboard backsplash and subway tiles behind the stove. We are not totally finished with the kitchen, but will most likely wait until after Christmas before doing the final touches.
Meanwhile, I need to have my kitchen ready for friends and family who will be visiting this month. A basic necessity that my kitchen needed after its farmhouse makeover was a new kitchen island. Thankfully, Target.com had exactly what I needed! I ordered the Aspen Kitchen Cart ($306) online at Target.com and chose expedited shipping. I was pleased with how quickly it arrived and it took less than 2 hours for my husband and I to assemble the unit. The instructions were clear and assembly was relatively straightforward. The finished product is even nicer than I thought it would be!
It is the perfect size for the space and the extra surface area is exactly what we needed in order to prepare for the holidays.
I set up an inviting hot cocoa stand on my kitchen island so when friends and family come in from the cold, they will have a nice spot to warm up and gather around.
I purchased a Threshold Beaded Cake Stand ($19.99) to display cookies and other holiday confections on during the Christmas season and beyond. It’s a truly beautiful piece that will look great in my farmhouse kitchen year round.
Archer Farms Dark Chocolate Hot Cocoa and mini marshmallows were absolutely essential, obviously.
As you can see, the adorable Threshold Berry Tree really pops. Red is a perfect accent color for the holidays. You can’t go wrong with red as it really gets one into the holiday spirit.
Not only can my kids enjoy the hot cocoa on a blustery day, but everyone that comes to visit us during the holiday season can warm up here too. I will probably bake scones on Christmas morning and serve them on the cake stand with jam. It will be the perfect treat to go along with a hot cup of cocoa!
I’m so excited to celebrate the holiday with my family and friends in such beautiful, stylish spaces. I love my home now!
