What’s the big deal about Frye boots?

John A. Frye, an English shoemaker, founded the Frye Company in 1863 making it oldest, continually operating shoe company in the United States. I remember my grandmother had a pair of Frye boots she wore all the time back when I was a little girl.

Since its founding, Frye boots has been a part of American tradition: from wars to pioneers’ travels out West. A pair of Frye boots was even chosen to represent 1960s America at the Smithsonian Institute!

In 1938, Frye’s grandson made a pair of the Wellington style boots for a U.S. Navy Admiral, and after that, orders continued; in fact, Frye supplied thousands of Wellington’s (also known as Jet Boots) to WWII soldiers, including General Patton.

Today, whether they’re worn with jeans or a cute mini-dress, Frye boots are still a popular choice. Celebrities like Jessica Biel and Anne Hathaway are spotted wearing their Frye boots all the time.
