CoverGirl “Exact Eyelights” Eye-Brightening Mascara
Review on Cover Girl’s New
“Exact Eyelights” Eye-Brightening Mascara
I couldn’t wait to buy this because of the claims that it brightens your eye color because accentuating my eyes is one of my favorite things to do with makeup. Sadly, I was very disappointed. I bought the shade “Black Pearl” because I have brown eyes and there are certain shades for certain eye colors; but when I applied it, I did not see any difference from any of my other tubes of black mascara. Ok, so I thought, maybe this was a “fluke” tube and I went and bought another shade, this time I bought “Black Gold” which is for hazel eyes. The same thing with this one – it didn’t look any different, it wasn’t noticeably brighter nor could I see any color difference. It just looked like I had on black mascara.
The one positive thing about this product is that the mascara did not clump on my lashes and the brush is pretty decent and has a long handle. But I was hugely disappointed at the claims Cover Girl makes that this will make your eyes pop – because on me – it most certainly did NOT. I would love to see it on someone who claims it does.
Rhianna’s eyes are naturally green
who cares what color Rhianna’s eyes are…mine are brown!! Does it work or not?
I’m going to buy this.. I have the almay intense i-color for my blue eyes, I def think it makes my eyes pop, that is when of corse you use the masacra and all the eye shadow colors as they direct you too, maybe the catch with the mascara is they in some small print somewhere with one of these* maybe they tell you when used with cover girl eyeshadow. but who knows. If you really want for sure definete eye popping eyes buy some colored contacts, I wear them and people notice my eyes and I get lots of compliments!!
It didn’t work for me!
I bought a tube of this mascara and it was wonderful it made my green eyes pop rite out i absolutely love it as A matter of fact ive been searching everywhere for it! I bought it at wal-mart and every time I go back to buy some more there always out!!!! my opinion its Terrific!
I’ve been wearing this mascara for a month or two now, and overall, it’s a great product. It goes on well and has a subtle, natural look. Unfortunately, that kind of defeats the point of this particular product, because like most other people, I found that it doesn’t actually brighten your eyes. It does indeed have little shimmery flecks, but they’re only noticeable when you’re really looking for them.
As far as eye color goes, I was skeptical from the start, even before I bought it. Brown eyes, like mine, are probably never going to be really “bright” no matter what you do to them, so your best bet is just to use the proper eye shadow if you want yours to “pop”.
Not my favorite mascara ever, and I’m going to the drugstore tomorrow for a new try. All considered, I’d give this one a 3.5/5.
very disappointed in this mascara – idont know where the highlights are but not in my tube – it went on great – but just another black mascara – for the price i was disappointed
Do not buy this mascara! I bought the black pearl because I have brown eyes, after putting it on one eye I compared it to the other and there was NO DIFFERENCE at all! My eyes don’t pop and to make it worse, this mascara is just like any plain old mascara, reminds me the cheap mascara I’d buy when I was a teeny bopper.
I bought the Exact Eyelights mascara and it is a waste of money. I didn’t notice any difference at all and it’s priced about $3 more than my regular mascara (Cover Girl Marathon).
I absolutely agree…I was like, “hey what the hell… let’s see if this highlight thing really works!” and is sooo absolutely does not. I think it has something to do w/ the rubber bristles though b/c I bought the lash blast too & it did nothing for my eyelashes either! From now on, I’m sticking to Maybelline!
I too Im very disapointed in this product. It does not do anything that it is advertised to do. Im a Redhead with hazel eyes.So I bought the one for hazel eyes. It did notheing it was like wearing regular black mascara. Iwas very unhappy what a waste of money. Covergirl has always been my makeup since I was 16. But I will never purchase this product again.
I’m really glad I looked at these comments. I was going out to purchase this mascara today. Guess I won’t bother now. The Almay colors are indeed awesome. I I got the set for hazel eyes and I always get compliments! The mascara is actually a maroon color but is very nice and a soft color!! I highly recommend it!
I am very disappointed in this product also. I do not like the brush at all, and I do not see where this makes by blue eyes pop. Clumps and hard to get on the bottom eyelashes. I have no problem with the other mascara that I use from Mary Kay. Was a waist of my money.
I too tried this product and could not see any difference than using plain old black mascara. It was very dissapointing.
Yeah I tried using it again the other day, and I’m just so disappointed.
I love CoverGirl, but the eyelights mascara is just a big FAIL.
This is my absolute favorite mascara – no clumps, and it doesn’t take very much to make my eyelashes pop.
If you’ll notice, there are several other “eye-brightening” products by CoverGirl. On their own, no one of the products works a miracle, but when you combine the whole system you really can see a difference.
I tried this mascara out on a whim and you are right- it does not work AT ALL. However, I won’t call it a waste of money because it evenly applies mascara and no clumps. So as a mascara (to lengthen and darken lashes) it does it’s job. As a eye brightener- please. Not even a chance.
Right on Rachel. Those were my feelings.
It’s great as a mascara, but don’t expect it to brighten anything! Good brush, nice coverage, makes lashes look great, but don’t buy it expecting it to make your eyes brighter.
If you think it actually brightens your eyes, it’s just the placebo effect! ;-)
I bought this product and I have been very disappointed. Not only does it not brighten anything, by the end of 8 hours it doesn’t even look like it’s still on my eyelashes.
