Weddings are steeped in tradition, so when many of us start the process of planning our big day, we can get caught up in all of the things that we think we ‘should’ have to make it come together. But it doesn’t have to be this way- when it comes down to it, your wedding is about you and your partner. If you want to do things a little differently, there’s absolutely nothing stopping you! And actually, a more unique wedding is likely to be much more interesting for your guests who will have been to the same ‘big white wedding’ many times before. Read on for some ideas.
Go with a less usual color scheme
Dusky pink and pastel purple are pretty enough, but maybe that’s just not ‘you’. If it isn’t, why not go with a color that is? It might not be a typical wedding color choice but it can still look amazing and totally wow your guests. It could be anything from a rainbow theme to neon bright, monochrome black and white or a combination of shades such as navy and orange which complement each other well but aren’t seen as often in weddings.
Choose a striking cake
A wedding cake is of course the typical tiered affair with some pretty details like flowers, swags and bows. But when it comes to cake, your imagination is the limit! Why not go with something completely different, or give a unique twist to a plain-tiered cake? It will certainly be a talking point, and is a fun way to make your wedding more personal to you. Work with an experienced cake maker who will be able to provide you with what you want. The cake doesn’t even necessarily have to be cake- large cheese boards for example are a good alternative.
Opt for more unique rings
Wedding rings don’t need to be plain gold or white gold bands, for example, check here for unique Elysium black diamond rings. You could go with a less used metal or a more unusual design, you can even attend courses which allow you to make your own wedding rings together before the big day.
Opt for different flowers and decorations
Flowers can be really expensive, and many see them as being wasteful since they’re only used for the day. Instead you could forfeit flowers altogether, why not forage for foliage and make your own arrangements, or you could use things like large lanterns and vases which you could sell after the big day. Balloons are another good option, they’ll cost a lot less and fill the room with a cheery atmosphere.
Choose an unusual dress
Finally, the dress is a great way to switch things up for your wedding. If you don’t want a big white dress, choose something you do like! Maybe a white tailored suit is more your thing? Maybe you want a dress but in a different color. Perhaps you want a white dress but a more unique style? Don’t limit yourself to traditional options, have fun with it and choose something you absolutely adore.
How did you/ will you be adding a unique personality to your wedding?
