This post Oscar season, we have looked all over for inspiration, looks and advice on what exactly we can do to achieve all that “Red Carpet Magic”.ย We search high and low for what would be best for us, individually. We all have different complexions, body types andย “looks”. What is right for us?
Enter Couture Fashion Designer and Author, Bradley Bayou, who has worked with some of our favorite people (Anne Hathaway, Halle Berry, Beyonce Knowles, Megan Fox, Salma Hayek, Oprah Winfreyโฆ and the list could go on… we have a lot of favorite people). Plus, he is awesomely knowledgeable on all that glamor.

Bradley talks about his favorite looks from this past awards season as well as gives us the opportunity to explore what would be best for our version of the red carpet. Oooooh, Mama is excited. Ok, first let’s see what Bradley’s faves were:
“Halle Berry showed off her flawless figure in a Marchesa nude crystal-encrusted gown with ruffled train, Christian Louboutin peep-toes and 10-carat diamond Neil Lane earrings. ย The sparkle and tulle on this gown are perfectly matched with minimal jewelry and natural makeup – as it is the gown that is the main attraction here. ย Anyone with a triangle body shape can wear this silhouette. Since it is strapless with the tulle detail across the bust, it will create the illusion of a broader shoulder to balance a larger hip. ย Also, since the tulle starts at the high hip and flutters asymmetrically to the floor, this will distract from larger hips. ย I would recommend this gown for taller ladies, as you will need the height to balance this for a long lean look.”
“Scarlett Johansson accessorized her burgundy lace, backless Dolce & Gabbana column dress with Christian Louboutin pumps and Anna Hu Haute Joaillerie ruby, emerald and diamond dragon-motif jewels. ย This look is reminiscent of Old Hollywood Glamour and perfect for Scarlett. ย She pairs the sophisticated lace pattern with tousled playful locks to keep the look young and fresh. ย She also kept the jewelry and makeup simple. ย This silhouette is best suited for an hourglass shape. ย It is fitted and shaped to hug the body not allowing for any fashion illusions or tricks – it is more what you see is what you get… although good under garments can go a long way!”
“Gwyneth Paltrow donned aย fluid metallic Calvin Klein Collection column, Brian Atwood pumps and stick-straight strands. She finished the look with Louis Vuitton high jewelry earrings, ring and brooch. ย I love the simplicity of the design of this gown matched with the complexity of the shine and texture. ย Gwyneth paired simple make-up and minimum jewelry as to not compete with the gown. ย I also love her bone straight hair – it is so modern and sleek. ย This silhouette is best suited for an inverted triangle. ย The neckline draws the eye in reducing the shoulder-line and the horizontal seam draws attention to the hips giving the illusion of an hourglass figure. ย Given the lightweight and shine, this is a very difficult fabric to wear. ย It will show every bump and flaw, so proceed cautiously and with proper under garments!”
“Natalie Portman showed off her growing baby bump in an off-the-shoulder, empire-waist violet Rodarte with Swarovski crystal beading, Jimmy Choo heels, a Roger Vivier clutch, and Tiffany & Co. jewelry. ย The gown color was perfect for her complexion. ย The wide V-neck focused attention on her face, then pulled in under her bust to give some shape before releasing and draping gracefully into an uneven hem, slightly higher in the front showing off a little leg and a sexy shoe. ย This gown is perfect for anyone with a triangle shape. ย The neckline details and wide V-neck give the illusion of a broader shoulder to balance a larger bottom half and create the illusion of an hourglass silhouette. ย The loose draping quality of this style gown will hide a booty or belly. ย It also has a defined empire waist and a front slit – two very flattering qualities for every body shape.”
Now on to us! It is obvious to me that Bradley Bayou knows what he is talking about. Not only is he respected as a designer but also as an author. Writer of The Science of Sexy, Bradley shows us how to dress for our unique figures, no matter what our size is. And as if that’s not enough? Bradleyโs Red Carpet Questionnaire can help every woman achieve a Red Carpet look for her special occasion by answering the same questions Bradley asks his celebrity clientele when designing their couture gowns. What’s cooler than that? Yay! I’m game!
We are certainly excited to see what else Bradley has in store for us. I am definitely going to keep my eye on him. You can too! Visit Bradley Bayou’s Facebook Page orย Follow Bradley on Twitter to keep up to date on all of the latest and greatest!
