  1. I have been using this makeup for almost two years now and it has changed my face for the better. I have always had terrible skin and mutiple trips to the dermatolgist have not accomplished what this makeup did. My mom, sisters, step-mom, and friends are now fans also.

  2. I hate foundation- liquid or power, so I never worn it and just used loose powder instead. This stuff rocks! I’m lucky to have good skin, but this has made it even better. I love it! I use Fairly Light, Light and the Mineral veil. I didn’t care for the Warmth and I’m a sworn M-A-C blush user :)

I know it’s more than most people spend, but it’s worth every penny.

  3. I tried this product because of the rave reviews it got from so many of my friends. On my skin, however, it magnified my flaws, made my pores look larger than they are, made my skin look redder than it is, ITCHED like crazy, and felt very stiff. I later read that lots of people have this complaint– are we wearing it wrong? Is there a “trick” to applying it or prepping the skin? (I prep my skin in the usual way: cleanse and moisturize.) I will add that I have skin that’s dry and somewhat prone to flaking.

  4. OMG–I have used this for about 1.5 years now. I love how it lasts and lasts.
My only complaint is that i have white circles not dark circles under my eyes and so i will still use concealer to make them look more like my cheeks. But otherwise, I only use BM for makeup now. My suggestion, if others think this is too expensive, because it is quite a bit more than the drug store brands is to buy the mineral veil powder. The stuff is amazing if you have combination or oily skin. It absorbs oil and lasts all day. On the hot days, use more, but it is invisible and it is gorgeous! it adds a glow, but does not make one pale or pasty!
    thanks for posting on this!!

  5. We’ve actually just included the Bare Escentuals range on our site this week. Might be of interest to any UK folk reading.

It’s a great range of products and has been selling well in our salon. We’re getting good feedback from our customers about it, and the best feedback of all – people coming back to buy it again!

  7. Wow! It’s amazing how many times we hear comments like MoneyDummy’s (#3 above)about how the highly-advertised brands of mineral makeup can make your face “ITCH like crazy” and make your face “look redder than it is”. Most of the highly-advertised brands are coated with Bismuth Oxychloride to make the minerals look shiny in the containers. Unfortunately, besides making your face look shiny, this Bismuth Oxychloride coating can make your face ITCH like crazy all day long! Also, many people with rosacea or acne have a very bad time with this Bismuth Oxychloride coating as well. A special note to brides: we have heard horror stories about brides who have used these shiny, highly-advertised brands with the Bismuth Oxychloride coating only to have their wedding pictures virtually destroyed because their faces are so shiny from this coating that their faces are almost completely washed out in the pictures. If you are planning your wedding, you owe it to youself to check out our healthy, all-natural, not-shiny, minerals.

The minerals we offer at http://www.HealthySkincare.biz are entirely natural and have no artificial coatings. They have NO toxic ingredients OR preservatives either (in case you haven’t heard, most cosmetics today have paraben preservatives that are now being linked to breast cancer so you need to read labels and know what you are putting on your face – see our website for articles about toxic cosmetics)! We are passionate about providing only healthy products! Besides that fact that we offer minerals that we think are the best in the world at incredibly-low prices, our customers also like the fact that we have $1.00 sample baggies of our minerals so they can try lots of colors before deciding which ones they like without breaking the bank.

For #4, Jen, above, you might want to check out our line of liquid minerals. They are healthy minerals only in a liquid form. We even have a very light, easy-to-spread “mousse”. Using the liquid minerals, you would have total sun protection for your face and you wouldn’t have to piece together your look with a concealer.

  8. I have been using this makeup for about nine months, and I like it a lot. I have dry skin and sometimes, when the weather is dry, it will sort of “cake up” on me. And occasionally the coverage is a bit too light for me (like at night for special events). So I sometimes begin with a sheer layer of liquid foundation, then put the Bare Minerals makeup over that.

Although I have pretty sensitive skin, I have never had any problems with it. However, my 18-year-old daughter had a bad allergic reaction. Her face got itchy, red, and swollen. It took three days of Benadryl for it to go down. I went searching for information on the Web and found the information about people with base metal allergies having allergic reactions, so we believe this is what happened. (We knew she was sensitive to metals, but had not read this before. This is something the Bare Minerals salewoman should have told us, I believe.)

So it’s a good product if you don’t need heavy coverage, but definitely stay away if you have metal allergies!

  9. I have bare escentuals and every time I use it my boyfriend comments that I look like “death warmed over”. I appreciate his honesty because I would be miffed if I was out in public looking like Elvira. I have oily skin and am acne prone at 24, god bless genetics right? I have now a new powder that I love it’s by Laura Mercier and a kabuki brush and I am happy with it so far. Winter will be the test of how much it ionizes (sephora beautician catch-phrase)? It doesn’t look cakey or clog my pores, and according to beautician “safe enough to sleep in. :)
