You may remember from biology class that some traits are derived from single genes but most are dependent on combinations of lots of different genes from both the mother and father. It gets more complicated than that. In certain parts of the world, populations are more or less likely to share characteristics that make things like eye color, curly hair or attached earlobes more or less probable. Despite not being able to exactly predict baby facial characteristics without a full genetic map of parents and grandparents, there is quite a bit of statistical data available that allows us to predict the chances of red hair and green eyes.

Having a baby is a bit like dating. You start out knowing nothing about the person and the joy comes in uncovering all the delightful secrets. One thing is certain. Your little prince or princess will be their own person with their own unique personality, giftedness, and cute little face.
Baby will be born with 15 trillion cells all miraculously arranged in a beautiful and original form that the world has never seen before!
The Baby Predictor
Using the baby predictor from Experienced Mommy is easy. Make selections for mom and dad’s facial characteristics, enter heights in either Feet / Inches or Centimeters, and click “See Results”.

Dimples are the lines on your cheeks when you smile.
Widows Peaks are the triangle shapes in the center or your hairline. Some are really obvious and others look like a slight dip. If your hairline is even and rounded above your forehead, you don’t have a widows peak.
Attached versus unattached earlobes are probably the least acknowledged or understood trait. Some peoples earlobes are kind of rounded and there is a clear gap with the lobe hanging down separated from the head. These are considered unattached earlobes. Other earlobes seem to be fully attached in a more or less straight line with no gap. It isn’t always clear whether yours is attached or unattached because there is significant variation between fully attached and unattached.
The height calculator provides a range of possible heights at adulthood based on the heights of the parents. Two tall parents are more likely to have a tall child, but just how tall is a question mark and this is reflected in the results. The height calculation varies by gender as boys are typically taller than girls from the same parents.
Some results from the tool give a 1% chance. In truth, the actual statistics for those characteristics vary from very close to zero percent to a few percentage points. The principle is that there are anomalies in the genes that cause unpredictable outcomes. So we can’t say there is a 100% chance of anything in biology.
