I’m pretty picky when it comes to food which is one of the reasons you rarely see food reviews on this blog. Every once in a while though, I get food items to review that actually surprise me and become a part of my weekly shopping list. Arnold Pocket Thins™ are one of those items…
Arnold and Oroweat Pocket Thins™ flatbread are just 100-calories each and have 5 grams of fiber and 8 grams of whole grains. They are offered in Italian Herb and 8 Grain currently, and are sold under the Arnold® brand name in the East and Oroweat® in the West.
These are absolutely, hands down, the best flatbreads I have ever purchased in a grocery store. The Italian Herb flavor is definitely my family’s favorite. Very bold flavor, without overwheleming everything else you end up putting in your sandwich. Pictured above, we made simple sandwiches with mayo, mustard, lettuce, smoked turkey and pepper jack cheese.
Arnold’s pita style flatbreads are not only healthy and full of fiber, but children love them. At least my kids do and they are REALLY picky! It’s easier for them to hold with their tiny hands without making a mess, plus it’s soft and easy to chew.
I had a discussion with my mother in law last week about bread… She said her criteria for good sandwich bread was if she was able to leave a thumbprint in it, then it was good. “GROSS!” I exclaimed! “My criteria for good bread is NOT being able to leave a thumbprint in it! I don’t want doughy, mushy, stick-to-the-roof-of-your-mouth bread! How healthy can THAT be?!” Well, we can totally meet in the middle with these flatbreads because they are healthy and full of fiber, YET they don’t taste it! They are soft and fluffy without being mushy and thumbprintable. Yay.
