Heaven knows I have been critical of Angelina Jolie’s style in the past, most notably when she went through that drab blouson phase in 2009. (And, yes, I know we all remember her Oscar-winning Gothic horror, but since that was ages ago, we ought to let bygones be bygones. I certainly don’t like being judged for my 90s’ style choices.)
So when I saw the Yahoo headline “Angelina’s Odd Fashion Statement,” I clicked through with that gleeful dread you feel when you think you might see something really wacky. I mean, “odd” is such a suggestive word when it comes to style.
But I was surprised to see this:
I don’t find that odd at all. She looks great. Apparently, there was some quibbling over her Louis Vuitton Lockit PM Devotion clutch, specifically its handcuff-inspired detail. First of all, if I had roughly 2 million children, I would need to cuff all my accessories to my body. Perhaps even surgically attach them. And secondly, it reminds me more of the Cartier LOVE bracelet than actual handcuffs. Overall I’d call the look sleek, confident, and intriguing.
Plus, a classic black dress with a fascinating, statement-making accessory is probably my all-time favorite formal look. And for those of us who have to do without a movie star’s salary and perks, it’s budget-friendly, allowing you to invest in one timeless LBD and rotate accessories as trends change.
So I’m giving Angelina a big thumbs-up here. But what do you think? Does the handcuff part creep you out? Or, like me, do you see it as a cheeky detail that sets her look apart?

I totally agree with you on the little black dress + one really great accessory. I think I’m just not in love with the chain connecting the clutch to the bracelet. Not because it looks like handcuffs, but because it looks to me like overkill. Kind of gaudy, even. I think I’d be a fan of the look if it were just the bracelet and the clutch. But then, I’m completely unfashionable, so take that with a grain of salt.
Love it!
Thanks a lot for sharing a very nice wording with us! Please keep it up..
