A Personal Shopper (For Other People’s Closets)
you have to check out. It’s called thredUP.

The premise is simple: exchange stylish clothes you’re no longer wearing for “new-to-you” stylish clothes in return. You get to pick the brands, sizes, colors of the types of things you want in return and all you do is send away items you no longer wear (how cool is that???). The kicker is it’s cheap and it’s all done through pre-paid mail (a la Netflix). thredUP is still in private testing, but I’ve heard from their founder they’re planning a public beta launch for Mens and Womens clothing in early August (kids very soon after). You can sign up to be part of the launch – and try the service for free – but you have to be one of the first 1,000 to sign-up so don’t waste anytime. (less than 300 freebies are left for the trial, so you better hurry!!!)
Check it out at www.thredup.com and let me know what you think.
This is cool. I can’t tell, do you get to pick the clothes? God knows I have tons of stuff I don’t wear anymore that is really quite nice.
I’m skeptical. How will they ensure quality? Great idea – especially for those of us who get bored of our clotes fast (like me!).
Cool concept! I know I should clean out my closet but most of the shirts are still really nice – the exchange idea is appealing. As quality standards are monitored, I will give this a try.
I signed up – I hope I made the list. I like the idea of swapping clothes. I have a ton of clothes that don’t fit me anymore (I just cleaned out my closet) and I like the idea of swapping them with someone.
I actually just took a look around my closet today and wanted to clean it out this weekend but it’s such a shame to just donate it all – some of my stuff is expensive. This would be a great solution! When does it launch again?
Yes, you can exchange whatever you have for whatever you want. The more people join, the more of a selection you’ll have to choose from. It’s an awesome idea because you can save money, yet get a whole new wardrobe.
I would say don’t try to get rid of something, you wouldn’t want to buy though. It’s not salvation army or your local thrift store. The nicer items you get rid of, the nicer the items you’ll get back!!!
Sounds great. Does that mean I can exchange my ‘fat’ clothes for my new size? That would certainly save me money and I won’t have to save all these expensive items in hopes of losing weight.
This is a marvelous idea for a shopping website! I like when shopping websites offer something new and exciting. Thanks for the information!
