A Guide to NDIS and How to Find the Right Therapist for Your Child
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is aimed at helping Australians with disabilities. (Big hello to all our Australian followers – this one is for you, mate!)
Over the course of the next several years, it’s estimated that the NDIS will help more than half a million people who have permanent and significant disabilities via funding and services. Through this program, it allows people to access the help they need including NDIS psychologists and physiotherapists.
Many who will be partaking in the system will be children. NDIS for children will help to hopefully reduce the impact of disability and developmental delay, allowing children to build their skills and have more independence as they get older.
To be eligible for NDIS, patients will need to be between seven and 65 years old. There are other options for help for those who are outside of this age range, but NDIS is for those who fall within this category. Additionally, the disabilities need to be significant and permanent.
Finding and Choosing NDIS Therapists for Children
Those who have concerns for their children and who want to ensure they have the therapy need to be sure they are choosing the right professionals. The first step is finding therapists located near you that provide NDIS for children. Not all therapists provide the treatments that your children with learning disabilities will need.
Take the time to explore their website to learn more about the clinic and the types of therapy that are offered. Does the child require speech pathology, physiotherapy, or perhaps psychological therapy? Consider the needs of your child and then choose NDIS therapists that can meet those needs. Do they provide short-term interventions, as well as long-term support?
You will also want to take the time to learn more about the reputation of the infant physio professionals who are working there. You want your child to receive the best care and help possible, and that means doing your research.
NDIS for children has made it possible for more young people to get the help that they need and that they may not have been able to afford before. Find providers in your area for your kids.
