The 1st Place Winning Entry from Anna:
My favorite memory was when I was very little:) Me and my sister loved decorating the Xmas tree- it was the best part of the holidays (besides presents:). One Xmas Eve our tree has somehow collapsed and most of the decorations smashed (many were in our family for years!)… Needless to say, we cried ourselves to sleep that night. Next morning we woke up and found that our parents spent all night fixing decorations and adding candy and fruits to the tree to compensate for things they could not fix. I don’t remember what presents we got but I still remember that Xmas tree!
The 2nd Place Winning Entry from Simona:
My favorite memory was when I was about 13 yrs old. My 3 sister’s and I woke up and went out to the living room to find 3 puppies along with a bunch of presents under the tree! We all squealed in delight and ran to fight over holding and cuddling the puppies. The most incredible thing was that not one of us really cared what was under the tree, we only cared about those puppies and what we were going to name them! Only animals can have that effect on people, they seem to bring out the love we all have to offer.
The 3rd Place Winning Entry from Anne:
My favorite Christmas memory happened just about 2 years ago. My kids are pretty much all adults now; they are all girls, 24, 21 and 17. I hadn’t been a great mom due to addiction issues, depression etc. but managed to come out of the depression and see “the light” about 5 years ago. I have been positive, sober and work on my relationship with my girls ever day. Christmas was not always wonderful for us; I would usually get stressed out and angry and make it miserable for everyone. My eldest daughter moved away from home at 18 to another city and when she came home the first time for Christmas, she actually had a panic attack just because she was expecting me to be me. I was calm, cool and relaxed and let Christmas just happen. I was able to laugh and love each of my girls and husband. Hearing my girls, laugh that Christmas Day and not bicker was the best Christmas memory that I have.
Thank you to everyone who entered! We were touched by many of your lovely Christmas memories and we can’t wait to hear more of your Holiday memories next year!
