How to Cope on Black Friday

No matter how often you say to yourself – “I will not go out on Black Friday, I will not go out on Black Friday” you know there is a good chance that you will in fact shop on Black Friday.

The reality is that the stores are opening earlier than ever and the retailers are clamoring for your purchase. They will do anything to get you in the door. Here are some tips on how to deal once you get there:

1) Plan and make a list – its going to be tough out there. 100 times worse than last year. With the way the economy is – people are going to be kicking and screaming to fetch the “best” deal. Last year I was at Target at 5AM and almost got trampled getting that camera for my daughter (by the way she never uses it). Prepare yourself by making a list (check it twice) of who will be receiving the gifts. Don’t buy the extras because it’s a good deal.

2) Set a Realistic Budget – Set a budget based on what you are capable of spending. Walking up and down the aisles on Black Friday is just too hectic and not to mention anxiety inducing.

3) Research on the Web – Check the newspaper circulars, as well as the Web sites for your preferred retailers. You will probably find out additional information on-line. They will tell you what’s on sale in the store and what’s available.

4) Have Fun – If you plan on lining up outside of a store 2 hours before it opens – buy coffee and donuts. Be willing to share – you never know who you will meet.
