Can Shoes Make (or Break) the Outfit?
I was watching the Emmy’s when I saw a commercial from Macy’s about shoes. Clinton Kelly stated, “Shoes are the most important accessory of any outfit”. He tends to think that shoes set the tone of an outfit. I guess he has a point – if you are wearing a beautiful gown, you really need beautiful shoes. Wearing cowboy boats or sneakers – no matter how nice you think they are – will not look “right” with a gown. This really got me thinking – especially since I have many shoe issues. One of the most common fashion “statements” I see out there is the heavy, “Ugg” type boot with shorts. When the cooler weather starts I also see a lot of jeans and flip flops. Both of these are a complete “oxymoron”. If the weather is hot enough for shorts why are you wearing boots that are supposed to be keeping your feet warm? And again, if the weather is getting cool enough for jeans – what is the point of flip flops. I am a very practical person and I cannot understand either of these looks.
What about you – do you wear either of these looks? Do you like the “look” or are you hoping that it is a phase that will end very soon??
I like the oxymoron concept. How can you be dressed
for two seasons at the same time.
I don’t like either look and do hope mom’s can take the time to invest a little time to look their best.
If you can pull of the look you might as well go for it till you can’t anymore.
I do not like the look of the furry boats with the shorts but then again I do not like the furry boats, period…. The flip flops with jeans, I could see to a point. Only until the weather really changes. Anyway, I hope that people look in the mirror before leaving the house…instead of following the so-called “trend”.
I have uggs which i so love…comfy and warm but i dont wear them with shorts or skirts…i look too weird for me to step out that way….i’ve done flip flops with jeans i see no problem with it unless its winter..then i grab my uggs :)
I think wearing shorts with ANY kind of boot is ridiculous and looks trampy. But that’s my opinion. Now, wearing jeans and flip flops I can understand. Its cool enough for jeans, or you don’t have the nicest looking legs, (varicose veins), no tan, etc., yet you don’t want to wear closed shoes.
I think wearing flip flops with jeans has a more reasonable excuse than wearing shorts with ANY kind of boot.
Just my 2 cents.
I agree with you there is no reason why to wear shorts with boots, this is just a fashion crime a BIG no no!
you can wear boots or even sneakers with a ball gown. it’s all about the lines of the outfit and attitude.
