Dr. Scholl’s Shoes Original 2.0 Sandals Review

I’ve been bopping around in the NEW Dr. Scholl’s Original 2.0 Sandals for a couple of weeks now and just loving them!

They are much lighter weight than the original Original Dr. Scholl’s shoes that are made out of wood. The Original Wood Exercise Sandal from Dr. Scholl’s is a truly a legend in footwear for its simple styling and legendary comfort.

The exercise sandals have made numerous media appearances over the years, most notably in an Isaac Mizrahi runway show back in 1993 and in Vogue magazine. They were also seen on The Martha Stewart Show in 2007 and in an episode of Sex and the City in 2002.*

Sarah Jessica Parker famously swapped her Manolos for Dr Scholl’s original sandals between shooting scenes for the Sex And The City series. Yeah so all of you that were thinking, “I wouldn’t wear those sandals! I am going to stick to my high heel shoes!” can just blow it out your ear! Even our biggest fashion idol “Carrie Bradshaw” needed a break from towering shoes.

They really are much lighter weight than the original sandals since the 2.0 is not made of wood. The new, improved version has and incredibly cushioned footbed, especially in the heel area. They have the same anatomical fit as the original, but the 2.0 is made of a shock absorbing material. They are like walking on air.

Something that long time fans of the shoes might notice is that the toe bump and cupped heel are not quite as pronounced in the new version. There isn’t as much to grip onto with your toes, as the original. The heel will squish a considerable amount though, depending on your weight. I weigh around 130lbs right now (I know, I know! Don’t judge me! I had a baby recently!!!) and the heel squishes in quite a bit which makes them comfortable for me, but doesn’t necessarily help them stay on.

The new 2.0 sandals are made in China (at least the navy blue suede ones that I tried out were made in China). I heard complaints about this on forums but I don’t see it as a problem. They don’t feel cheaply made to me and I don’t think the quality has been compromised.

The buckle looks complicated but it’s NOT. It takes a minute to figure it out, but then you’re an expert from there on out. Very easy to adjust and once you put it in the right hole, you most likely won’t have to play with the buckle again. Mine fit perfect right out of the box, but I fooled around with the buckle just to see how it worked and was surprised how easy it was to adjust. Especially since I had read that some people had issues adjusting their buckles. I didn’t find this to be a problem at all.

These are a really cute alternative to your standard flip flops, they come in a wide variety of colors in either leather, suede, or printed faux leathers. Because of their simple styling, you can wear them with almost anything, year round (depending on where you live!). They are very comfortable and surprisingly easy to walk in. I was concerned that I would have trouble keeping them on, but that isn’t a problem at all. You really have to try them!
