Celebrity Fashion: Nicole Richie

A few weeks before Nicole gave birth, she was seen leaving Ralphs with a Butterfinger candy bar in hand and the latest issue of Vogue in her Hermes Birkin handbag.

She was wearing a super-fabulous black swing coat, a simple v-neck shirt, black leggings, a little red beret, and Livs Tall Crochet boots in black.

If you hate Uggs, you’re in luck! These famous crochet boots have been mistaken for Uggs ever since Nicole Richie was seen in them last month. They are in fact, original Livs.

Something most people don’t know is that Livs were the first company to make the popular crochet boots. They are the original and WAY WAY cuter than the UGGS hideous version of them.

Uggs pirated the Livs boot design and started selling them like hot cakes, leaving Livs in the dust. How unfair! You can read all about it in our Exclusive Interview With Creator of LIVS.

Something to note: The LIVS have a red name tag on the back which the UGGS do not have. Plus, Livs boots do not have sheepskin inside of them as the UGGS do, which makes Livs washable.

I have the
LIVS Classic Tall Crochet Boots in black that are identical to Nicole’s and I love them. I have also seen and tried on the Uggs version and I have to say that the Livs crochet boots are waaaaay cooler, more comfortable, and nicer looking. They are also washable and come with a special bag to wash them in.

Don’t want to spend a lot on a pair of boots this late in the season? Well, you can get a fake version at Delias for $44 and at GoJane for $23. But know that those don’t look as nice as Livs…

  1. I LOVED these boots the first time I saw them as well! I really wanted the black ones, but I couldn’t (and still can’t) find them anywhere for under $100. I did find a pair of lavender ones though, and purchased them thinking they would be perfect for spring. However, I am having a hard time pairing an outfit with them. Would you be able to give me some suggestions or ideas? the other problem is that I have some major stick legs, so I might call it quits with the boots all together. I will never deny the fact when something just DOES NOT look good on me! Thanks!
