Fashion at the 2010 Golden Globes

I know there are tons of sites doing recaps of this year’s Golden Globe outfits, so I thought I’d pick two to really focus on: one that knocked it out of the park, and one who really fell short.

Let’s start with the negative:

Jennifer Morrison, wearing Puerto Rican designer Luis Antonio accessorized with a Judith Leiber clutch, and Martin Katz jewelry, falls flat in my opinion. It’s hard for me to criticize her because:

a. She’s beyond gorgeous.
b. She’s on one of my favorite shows.
c. We graduated from the same college.

Okay, so option c is kind of lame, but still… kinship is there. This dress just doesn’t do anything for her figure and certainly washes her out. But removing the ruffling at the bust and switching the color to a burgundy, this dress would have been an insane success. I do have to say though… the hair and makeup are spectacular. I love that simple, glamorous look!

And, here’s the positive:

This scenario is the exact opposite. I really just don’t like Jennifer Aniston. I was never a Friends fan and I don’t think she’s all that great of an actress… but she really, REALLY brings the WOW Factor with this Valentino couture dress, Versace shoes, black vintage Ferragamo minaudiere, and Fred Leighton jewelry. It’s sexy without looking slutty, and super figure flattering.
Plus, I love how it doesn’t look like she’s been sewn into the dress (unlike some celebrities walking the Red Carpet!); she looks styling and comfortable while still oozing with glamour. Even the tousled hair, which I’m usually against for Red Carpet styles, works so well with this.

  3. Now, as much I as I agree with you that Jennifer Aniston looked awesome (because she did) I found her dress predictable. I mean, seriously, how many times can she wear a long, simple black dress on the red carpet. Although, I guess if her style ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

  4. I too like Jennifer’s simple glamour (espeically the shoes!! OMG!!). But is it the way she’s standing or the asymmetrical design that’s making her look leaning/crooked? I’m thinking it’s the camera angle and not a need for a chiropractor LOL Seriously though, her style is amazing.

  5. Hands down, I totally agree about Jennifer Aniston. She really stood out in my mind. Even though it’s just black, she really got my attention when she walked out on stage.
