Introduction to iS Clinical by Innovative Skincare
If you are a regular reader of The Fashionable Housewife, you probably already know about my plight with acne. It has been a consistent and long-term problem for me since adolescence. I’ve tried everything from Proactiv, Neutrogena Advanced Solutions Acne Therapy, Murad Acne Complex Kit, Acne Free Clear Skin Treatment, Avon Clearskin Line, among many others all to find little to no results.
While I had significant results with Acne Free Clear Skin Treatment, it stopped working after about 3 months of consistent use. I purchased another kit, continued to use it with absolutely no results from there on after. I eventually stopped using it when I developed a severe allergy to Benzoyl Peroxide, the active ingredient in Acne Free, Proactive, Clearasil and many other over the counter acne treatments.
That made it even more difficult for me to find something that worked. I review lots of products all the time on this blog and while I love most of them, the results usually don’t last. If I use any product consistently for more than 4-8 weeks, it stops working entirely. The breakouts come back full force and won’t go away for months until I switch to a different product. It’s like my pores become immune to the new treatment after a while…
So every 2-3 months, I change my skin care regime now to help combat breakouts and keep my acne at a bare minimum. I kept hoping that someday, if I tried enough products, I would finally find something that would really, really work. Something that would finally get rid of the acne, the breakouts, the flare-ups, the blackheads, the whiteheads and all the redness and inflammation. I thought it was all but a pipe dream…
Early June 2009, I got an email from a representative at cosmeceutical skin care line, iS CLINICAL by Innovative Skincare which is based out of Los Angeles. It is a results oriented, pharmaceutical grade, botanically based line of skin care products. They asked me if I’d be willing to try some of their products
On June 16th, I started a new skin care regime. I discontinued using any and all skin care products for my face, including foundation and powders for the first 4 weeks on my new skin care program.
I was advised by the representative to try the Anti Aging products, even though my main complaint was acne. He said that the Active Serum not only gets ird of acne and acne scars, it diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as hyper pigmentation.
It sounded too good to be true, but I was willing to give anything a fair try! So I started with the Anti-Aging Travel Kit that contained the Cleansing Complex (2 oz.), Youth Complex (0.33 oz.), Active Serum (0.5 oz.), and 5 packets of the SPF 25 Treatment Sunscreen.
The cleanser is perfect. Just the right amount of suds, non-drying, and it leaves my skin feeling really clean. (I also use it with my Clarisonic at least once or twice a week.) It seems like a very basic cleanser, but it’s actually quite nice. It didn’t irritate my super sensitive skin, and left my face feeling refreshed instead of dry (like most gel cleansers do to me.)
After cleansing, I carefully apply the Active Serum which comes in a dropper bottle. You only need a little bit and you can feel it working right away. It leaves my face with a refreshing tingling sensation that is almost cold. The Active Serum is probably my favorite out of all 4 products, as I saw the most significant and dramatic results after using this product for just 3 days. My acne completely cleared up against all odds, including that I was just about to enter “that time of the month” and I should have been getting my big breakout of the month. Instead, I was surprised to find a completely clear complexion, that was unusually less red than normal as well.
Most days, I would follow application of the Active Serum with a light layer of the Youth Complex which is a silky smooth cream built for serious action. It is clinically proven to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin and offers immediate, intermediate and long-term results. Upon the first application I noticed that it firmed and tighten my skin and even reduced the fine lines around my eyes and the wrinkles in my forehead. My skin looked smooth and was softer than silk. I have never used a cream that provided immediate and noticeable results before this.
After about 1 week of using the Cleanser and Active Serum 2x a day and the Youth Complex 1x a day, my acne completely cleared up.
I have been using these products for 6 weeks now, and I am still completely acne free. I can’t totally 100% tell you that iS Clinical products will solve all your acne problems, because I’ve only been using it for 6 weeks and according to my track record, my acne should return in about 6 more weeks. So I’m going to keep using it religiously for the next 6 weeks and then give you another update.
Meanwhile, I can say this:
I have never been so impressed with a line of skin care products in my life. I’ve used a LOT of different brands and products to try to overcome acne, but iS Clinical Skincare products have done more than that for me.
My skin is softer, smoother, acne free, has noticeably less redness and old acne scars are beginning to smooth out and become less visible. I also have noted less wrinkles in my forehead and fewer lines around my eyes. The Active Serum and Youth Complex have made a huge difference in the way my skin looks and feels which has been a huge confidence booster for me.

These are pharmaceutical grade skin care products so you won’t find them in your local drugstore or Sephora! The products are only sold in places that have a medical direction such as Dermatologists, Plastic Surgeons, Med-spas etc. You can purchase their products online at a couple web stores but I recommend that you get a consultation before purchasing to find out which products are best for you. Wow, sounds promising. Hope it continues to deliver good results. I’ve been trying to find a good line to combat breakouts too. I just started a new regime, if it doesn’t work I’ll have to give this line a try =)
This is the only line of products that has actually worked for me. I never had an issue with acne/complexion during my teen years. I am 24 now, and I started a medication 2 years ago with one of the side effects has been acne, The texture of my skin had also become very bumpy/dry and a bit discolored. I have tried antibiotics, rentin-a creme, benzoyl peroxide creme, changing my make up (from prescriptives to shiseido, now Jane Iredale mineral), buying numerous varieties of drug store face washes. All with high hopes, but no real results.
Then I saw on the “Doctors” program the Hydrafacial, which promises to remedy complexion issues, make skin younger, smoother, less discoloration, less acne, etc. All without the downtime of a chemical peel. You can watch the video if you go to the “doctors” website. So I began a regimen of hydrafacials, 2-3 times/month at a medical spa. These really did help improve my skin and its texture. But they are expensive. This spa also convinced me to go with mineral make up (jane iredale) and gave me some samples of IS clinical face wash, active serum, and hydra cooling serum. I was shocked that it actually worked! The acne and discoloration I already had cleared up. And the acne I could feel starting under my skin, never surfaced either. All three products cost me about $200. The least expensive was the face wash ($36) and the most was the active serum ($100?).
I think it is worth it though to be more confident that my skin looks good, and to not have to cake on the make up to cover up the flaws. I really recommend this to anyone out there that has skin issues. Even if it isn’t acne. The hydrafacials are really effective too, and the improvement is way more obvious on someone older than 20’s-early 30’s. For the younger people it is a good preventative measure. Their is clinical sunscreen is really great too, not greasy and a good moisturizer.
Hi Andrea! So glad to hear their products worked for you too!!! Sounds like you were having the same problem as me. Such a relief to finally find something that works.
The confidence a clear complexion can bring a girl is just amazing. I feel so much better about myself. I don’t feel like I have to hide under long hair, bangs, and layers of makeup anymore. Such freedom!!
It’s extremely exciting to hear other people’s success stories. Thank you for sharing your testimonial!!
