  1. I just bought a pair of these EasyTone shoes last week, and have worn them for an hour or so the past 5 days, and wore them several hours one of the days. The problem is, they really really hurt my feet! Not as in I need to break them in cause they give me blisters, but the bottom pads of the balls of my feet feel like they are on fire after just a few minutes of walking around in them. I’m not sure if its just me or if I just need to get used to them. Any suggestions??

    1. I have found that they caused my achilles tendons to become swollen. Both a podiatrist and an orthopedist say that the problem was caused by these sneakers. I now have to go to PT 3x’s a week!

do you know of other people w/problems? LMK

  2. I didn’t have that problem at all. Do any other shoes do that to you? You wear them with socks, right?? Perhaps, thicker socks might help cushion the balls of your feet more?

I don’t know. I wouldn’t think that sneakers would give anyone pain in the balls of their feet. I mean, stilettos yes, but sneakers no. What do you normally wear for footwear on an average day??

I want to help you figure this out! If it’s the sneakers, I will definitely contact the company for you and see what we can do.

  3. You should check out Earth Footwear. I found them a few years ago and since they look like regular casual shoes (not sneakers) I can sneak in a workout while I’m at work.

  4. I normally wear all types of shoes from wedges to heals to flats. It only seems to be this shoe that does it as far as my flats/other tennis shoes go. I wore them today at work until lunch, and it was okay for just walking to and from the printer/bathroom/meeting, but walking from my office to my car to go to lunch made them hurt again. I do wear socks with them. I’ve tried thick ones, thin ones, and those special athletic socks. Nothing has helped, and I’m really sad! I wanted these so much because I have a pair of FitFlops that I love and thought these would work just as well. I’ll keep testing them, maybe I’ll get used to it.

  5. Oh, as a side note: I have a tendency to walk on the outer part of my feet. I have done this since childhood, and have never been able to rectify it. Yes, it does cause me to roll my ankles a lot. :-P But, doing this has never caused a problem with other tennis shoes in the past. Maybe it affects these shoes?

  6. I just bought these shoes two days ago, I wore them for 6 hours straight yesterday and my feet are killing me today and are sore. I don’t know if i have yet to break into them or if these shoes are just not for me.I feel like they are bending my feet the wrong way because of they’re particular design. does anyone else feel the same?i am so upset about my first pair of Reeboks.

  7. @7 I am so disgruntled to hear that people are having problems with these shoes. I didn’t notice any pain in my feet at all or a need to “break them in”. And I have pretty sensitive feet… It’s not like a wear stilettos for a living and have no more feeling left in my feet…..

I’m going to get the company to look at this comment thread and see what they have to say for themselves.

  8. I just bought a pair of these today. I have been testing them out walking around on the carpet at work to see if I like them, so I can still return them if I don’t. I have the same “burning” feeling on the balls of my feet like Anna said she experienced.

  9. You know what, I just wore them for two days straight at Comic Con in San Diego (It’s not my fault, fiancé really wanted to go!) and they actually worked out well. My feet definitely hurt at the end of the day, but that’s because my pedometer said I clocked over 21,000 steps each day (my goal is 10,000). I think now that I’ve broken them in they are doing better. I still get the burning on the balls of my feet, but it goes away after an hour or so and its not nearly as bad as it was. Anyway, I will continue to try and break them in since there is no way I can take them back.

PS: I bought a pair of those Earth shoes Bethany was talking about. Today is my first day wearing them, and they are pretty comfortable, but I definitely need to do some breaking in.

  10. Corporate Communications for Reebok responded with the following…

Reebok’s EasyTone shoes were designed to help tone key leg muscles through the use of balance pods built-in under the heel and forefoot. The pods creates a natural micro instability, forcing your muscles to adapt. At Reebok, we like to refer to wearing EasyTones as “taking the gym with you” and like any gym workout, some people may “feel the burn” after wearing the shoes for the first few times – which is an indication that the leg muscles are being activated. Of course, the degree of this effect can vary greatly. Factors such as a person’s build or body type, their gait, foot shape/sensitivity and their general physical fitness level all play a part and impact the effects of wearing the shoes. Please communicate to your readers that if they are not happy or satisfied with their EasyTone’s or any Reebok product they should contact our Customer Service department and we will respond directly.

      Call 1-800-934-3566

    I replied with the following…

Yes, I realize that Reebok EasyTone sneakers were designed to engage muscles etc much like the MBT sneakers and FitFlops. I find they give me a similar “workout” effect after a short walk and I love that.

The comments my readers left and their concerns were not “feeling the burn” type of problems, which I think they were all expecting. The main complaint seems to be burning pain in the balls of their feet, which seems like a problem with the insoles of the sneakers? I suspect the balance pods are transferring all the weight to the balls of the feet and people just aren’t used to this.

My first question to each person was what do they normally wear for footwear and do any other type of shoes give them this kind of pain, and everyone seemed to indicate to me (in comments and emails) that this was their first time experiencing pain in the balls of their feet. Then again, I don’t think these women are wearing stilettos when they aren’t wearing sneakers!

    They replied with the following…

I will look into the specific question about the balls of the feet, but I suspect (although I don’t know myself) that you are correct in you assessment. Our customer service department can be reached at 1-800-934-3566.

So for those of you that are still having this problem, I recommend calling the company. If enough people complain, they might do something about it!

  11. I LOVE these shoes! I wear them all the time and during my workout on the elliptical. I have lost two inches in my rear simply by wearing them- didn’t have this result just wearing regular tennis shoes. I have not had that burning problem- but I do have wider feet- I had to loosen the laces more than my normal shoes. Great shoe for a great price!

  12. I am a college student and a waitress at a country club where the kitchen is upstairs, and I just bought these sneakers about three weeks ago. I have honestly worn them about everyday and i adore them! At work I really feel it, even just standing around I feel the need to balance more, and my legs feel sore. My mom thinks im crazy, but I am used to running and working out all the time, but I have been sick and really busy at school, so that hasnt happened much lately in the past two weeks, yet i still feel sore in my legs, and my lower butt where it meets the thigh. That is a huge plus for me! I know they are problably different for everyone but I love them and am gettting the pink and white pair (i have the black for work) for christmas, because I am studying nursing and these will be great for clinicals! I recomend them! Love them so much. Just too and from classes is great, and I go on walks with them and the usual 3 miles feels like more. Love them! And there not ugly! Or bulky and feel light on my feet. I feel like they are really cushioned on my feet, but depending on how you walk I am sure they could hurt your feet!

  13. I keep hearing how much your legs burn on multiple sights….. I would like to know how well it works for your tush? I’m getting married in 9 mos, and I really need my butt to look great on our wedding night! : )

  14. I too had the pain in my feet…in fact my toes were going numb. I called the number mentioned above and they were very helpful. They are letting me send them back to Reebok for a refund up to the manufactures price. I love Reebok products and guess this one just isn’t for me.

  15. I injured my left foot with the Easy Tone shoes. I used the shoes in my daily activities. On January 23rd 2010 I was walking with the shoes on the bay, and in the middle of the walk, I felt like something was burning inside my heels. I stopped walking and took my shoes off immediately. I decided to go back home. Next day, my left foot started swollen and still felt a deep pain in my heel. I felt like a burning nail was piercing my heel. Next day I couldn’t walk so I rushed to the hospital. After exams and tests I was diagnosed on Monday with PLANTAR FASCITIS, due to a trauma. I am not walking since then (two weeks), I started physical therapy and using crutches.

  16. I love how my legs feel, and the shoes are really comfortable. but when I take them off my ankles and feet hurt and swell. From the shoe, or something wrong with me?

  17. Hi ladies,
my husband offered me these shoes for my birthday as a suprised. After exchanging them for they were a little too big, I still feel the heels to be loose when I walk. I never had Reebok shoes before, always wore Nike, so I would like to know if this is normal of not. However in order to feel the shoes not that loose I have to tie the laces so tight that it is very uncomfortable. I guess my feet are not made for this brand. I only tried them at home for I would like to be able to bring them back if they don’t fit me. Anyone experiencing the same problem?

    1. I agree! These shoes rub my ankles and I thought tightening the laces would improve the fit. However, this causes my toes to go numb. I have to wear extra thick socks to cover my ankles and then just deal with the numb toes…this is frustrating!

  18. Hi,
I bought these shoes a couple days ago. the biggest selling point for me was the cushionie feeling. I have high arches and do best with heavily cushioned shoes.
anyway, my question is has anyone expierenced pain in along the sides of their heels when using these shoes? I walked on a treadmill for about an hour the first day i had them and now (2 days later) have a strained like sensation on the inside sides of my heels. my husband said he thinks its musles stregnthing, but i dont want to injure myself. i have a lot of weight to lose and need good shoes to get going.
    any information is greatly appreciated!
    Mary

  19. Your feet are probably hurting because we are used to wearing shoes that fully support us like a cast. This in turn does not allow the muscles in your feet to strengthen. These shoes make you work harder. The balls on the shoes make you consciously keep your balance, therefore, toning your muscles. Your feet just need to strengthen and then they should be fine. Your feet have muscles, tendons, and ligament just like every other part of your body. If you haven’t done sit ups in years and then do sit ups, you’re going to be very sore because your muscles are not in shape….same goes for your feet.

  20. Soooo, anyone notice a difference in the butt? Again, keep hearing good things about the legs, but other then the ads they put out, I’ve heard nothing. Can I get a consumer yay or nay?

  21. I bought the EasyTones this past Monday and wore them a little bit each day to break them in (thinking that’s why I was feeling pain in my feet). I was so excited I called my friend up to join me in my big walk today. Oh my goodness! I have never experienced pain like this ever before. I’m an avid walker and consider myself in shape so it wasn’t as though this was my first walk. I was miles away from my house and had to turn around and find that quickest way back. My toes went numb first and it felt like pins and needles followed by a burning sensation on the balls of my feet. I was completely embarassed and felt bad that I was ruining my friend’s workout as well. We headed home and the second I was in sight of my house I took the shoes off and walked the rest of the way in my socks. I have been wearing slippers the rest of the day to try to rest my feet. I’m calling Reebok to see what they can do. There’s no way I would ever put these shoes back on. I highly recommend NOT buying these.

  22. I’m thinking about purchasing either these or the Sketchers, but with the costs I am a little worried. I cannot afford to spend $100 on a pair of sneakers and I can’t wear because of burning or injury to my poor feet. I am fat and have fat feet. Any suggestions? Would these work for me? I am more worried about the comfort. i am sooo picky when it comes to sneakers and desprately need a new pair. I am trying to do some research before hand. Please help!!

  23. I gotta tell you my easytones, broke. Yea, broke. The top bump on my right shoe cracked and now the bump is flat. I understand I wore them everyday for a few hours in the evenings since Christmas, but I think $125.00 sneakers should hold up a bit longer then 6 months. I have written the company and will keep you informed of their response.

  24. I got a pair of the easytones and have been wearing them regularly to walk with and without the dog. I love them, the only issue I have is that in my left foot I get a “going to fall asleep” numb, tingle from my toes to about the middle of the foot AND its only the left foot! I’m going to call the 1800 number and see what they said. I do not want to return for a refund as I’m more happy with them, then not.

  25. Just called the 800 # and John got testy when I kept asking if anyone else had problems. Personally, he said, no one has complained to him and he wasn’t aware of any issues. Finally, he gave me an return authorization # to return and be able to get other sneakers to replace these Easy Tones. Again, these sneakers have caused my achilles tendons to swell and become very tender. I’m in physical therapy several times a week now.
