We asked swimsuit fit expert and CEO/Founder of Fit 4 U® Innovative Swim Solutions, Pattie Byrnes, a few questions on how to choose the best swimsuit for different body shapes and “problems”.
We knew Pattie would be the best person to ask since she has been a key player in the design, manufacturing and sales of swimwear since 1985. Pattie Byrnes has established herself as a “fit expert”, innovative designer and one of the most successful marketers of swimwear specifically designed for each specific body type so that women of every age, size and shape can have the best swimsuit for their own body.
Pattie’s unique “body type” concept revolutionized the way swimwear is purchased and continues to fill an important void in the swimwear market. Her swimwear has always been designed to relieve the frustration that real women with real bodies experience when they shop for a swimsuit.
Here are 6 tips on choosing the best swimsuit for your body shape…
Q: What should new moms look for in a swimsuit to help hide their tummy?
A: New Moms want to look and feel great après baby. I suggest our Brushstroke mesh flyaway top, 2 Tone Waterfall top or any of our signature “3 tiers”. These styles are trendy right now but are designed to flow gracefully away from the tummy area. Then they can choose their favorite bottom.
Q: What features should someone look for if they want to enhance small breasts?
A: Our Fit 2 Lift! styles have a unique design and construction. A floating underwire bra with removable padding creates the illusion of 2 -3 sizes cup sizes larger. Because the bra is floating she can adjust the inside bra to fit it her perfectly for her. The outside straps are also completely adjustable!
Q: What type of swimsuits do you recommend for someone with large hips or bum that don’t want a skirted swimsuit?
A: For a gal that has larger hips, the trick is to make her shoulders appear broader to balance out the weight of the hips, thus giving her a perfect hourglass shape. Our Brushstroke Petal Pusher, Our Glam Slam or Nomad Hi Neck, Our Boy Meets Girl Hi Neck Peplum, or Petal pusher Hi Neck 3 Tier will all do the trick.
Q: What type of laundry detergent do you recommend to wash swimwear with?
A: Machine wash delicate cycle or hand wash? Hand Wash Only with a mild detergent like Ivory in cool water to make your suit last the longest.
Q: What type of swimsuit is best for someone with large breasts?
A: For the larger Busted, look for our Fit 4 ur C’s or Fit 4 ur D’s and E’s styles. These suits are cut higher under the arm and are specially designed to accommodate large chests and support them. Fit 4 U manufactures their own cups to actually fit these larger cup sizes.
Q: What do you recommend for women who carry most of their weight in their midsection?
A: My best recommendation would be any of our Signature 3 tier styles. The beautiful flounces of fabric go all the way around disguising any weight in the mid-section. These 3 tiers come in tops and in also in our rompers.
