3 Summer Skin Care Hacks For Gorgeous Glowing Skin

Achieving glowing, radiant skin in summer can be a challenge when the temperatures rise. Sweat mixes with the oils and natural bacteria that your skin produces, clogging pores and leading to breakouts and acne. In fact half of all women have problems with acne, so when the weather is warm, and you are sweating more, it is important to look after your skin. Here are 3 summer skin care hacks that will help you get gorgeous glowing skin despite the warm weather woes!

1. Exfoliate your skin

Exfoliation helps your skin look radiant by removing dead skin cells, which can cause blocked pores and acne. It helps with circulation, and also gives your skin a lovely soft feel. You can easily create a natural exfoliator without damaging microbeads with simple oatmeal. Mix some ground oatmeal with honey (a powerful, natural antioxidant) and a little yogurt. Rub this on your face in a circular motion for 10 minutes, and then rinse the exfoliator off. Try this once a week to give your skin the beauty boost that it needs.

2. Dose up on Vitamin C

Vitamin C is scientifically proven to help your skin repair itself and look naturally healthy. It is used to treat hyperpigmentation, tissue inflammation and photoaging. A study showed that harmful UVB rays from the sun penetrated the skin 30-40 times deeper into the dermis in people that did not take a regular, daily dose of vitamin C. Scientists are heavily researching how vitamin C can be delivered to the dermis better, but in the meantime, there is something that you can achieve easily at home. Simply make sure that you are getting the daily recommended dose – this is 75 mg a day for women and 90 mg a day for men.

3. Go makeup free

If you have any oily patches, these can be exacerbated by sweating if you’re too hot. Add to this combination layers of foundation, powder and other makeup products, and your skin will really struggle to maintain a natural balance in the summer months. It’s been a few years since the no makeup selfie went viral, raising awareness for Cancer Research (and also over $10 million in a week). It was a trend that showed the world that you don’t have to wear makeup all the time, you can let true beauty shine through – and your skin will breathe a sigh of relief too. If you can’t imagine heading outdoors without makeup, opt for lighter products such as tinted moisturizer which can give your skin an even tone without the heavy feel.
