Today I started the Dukan Diet in hopes of losing the last 15 pounds from my second pregnancy.
When I was offered the opportunity to review the Dukan Diet, I was skeptical and a little hesitant. “Another diet?!” I thought to myself… I didn’t know if I was ready to take on such an extensive, time intensive review… or if I was ready to even focus on myself…
Honestly, I am soooo not motivated to do any dieting or exercising (beyond my 20 minute walk every day) at this point in my life. I have two small children, a large home to take care of, plus my business and taking time out for myself is the furthest thing from my mind. However, I am extremely unhappy at the weight I am right now and I don’t feel good about myself and I just want to get back into my dang size 4 jeans again! So I decided to go for it and give it a try…
After I read a few chapters in the book, I had all the motivation in the world to start this new diet! I love how Dr. Dukan writes and the history and info about the diet made it very appealing. So I decided, oh what the heck, I’ll start right away!
I received my box of goods on Friday, read the book over the weekend, went grocery shopping and got ready to start some major self dedication on Monday.
I did like a “test run” on Monday to see if I could even handle this diet and I did great. I lost 1lb 2oz in the first 24 hours!
Okay, getting ready to reveal some personal details here in hopes to help other people. I know a lot of people are very uncomfortable talking about their weight and actual numbers on the scale, but I hope that if I reveal all my personal details and stats that it will help someone else in their weight loss journey.
And please, do not judge or leave any non-encouraging comments!!!!
Personal Weight History
I am 5’2″ and in my late 20’s. I had my first child in 2007 and my second child in 2010.
2002-06 Pre Pregnancy Weight: 100 – 115 pounds
2007 First Pregnancy: I gained 45 pounds
2007-08 After Baby Weight: 140 – 135 pounds
2009 Between Kids Weight: 120 – 116 pounds (I used Sensa and lost over 20 pounds)
2010 Second Pregnancy: I gained 55 pounds
2010-11 After Baby Weight: 145 – 130 pounds
2012 Current Weight: 128 pounds
I weighed myself Monday morning before starting the Dukan Diet and weighed in at 127.8lbs. This is the lowest I have weighed since 2009 when I got pregnant for my second child. My weight loss efforts up till now have not been very serious or very motivated. I have just been doing things like eating healthy, walking at least 3x a week (except in the middle of the winter! Then it’s shoveling 3x a week!) and I have been breastfeeding my second child since 2010 which allegedly burns calories, but I don’t think it has helped much!
After I had my second child, I weighed around 145 for the first year after his birth. After he turned one year old, I started making a little bit of an effort and at that point I started losing approximately 1-2 pounds a month bringing me down to my current weight of 127.8lbs as of June 19th, 2012.
