Getting to your goal weight isn’t always as easy as cutting back on sweets and working out. It also isn’t something that happens in a month. As everyone’s body is different, the road to losing weight or getting fit can take many different twists and turns. When it gets tough to stick to your diet or workout routine, use these motivators to help you persevere and reach your weight loss goals!
One of the biggest motivators for most people is those they hold closest to them. If you’re having trouble with losing weight, or just need extra encouragement or advice, talking to your family can help inspire you. Your family cares about you and wants what’s best and will, therefore, encourage and support you during the ups and downs. Whether it’s being a listening ear, teaming up to improve their health with you, or watching the kids so you can go to the gym a few times a week, your family can be your biggest cheerleaders.
Your Support Network
Though it may seem like every other woman around you is in better shape or is having an easier time at losing weight, this is far from the truth. Sometimes, you can gather inspiration to start or continue your weight loss journey from other women. Lean on your friends or join an online or local weight loss group. By hearing inspiring weight loss stories from others who have walked in your shoes can help you see through to brighter days.
Goals and Rewards
When you’re trying to lose weight, but can’t see the progress in the mirror yet, it can be discouraging to keep pressing forward. Setting smaller goals and rewarding yourself along your weight loss journey can provide you with the inspiration you need to keep going. For example, let’s say you set a goal that you’ll work out 5 days a week for 30 minutes for the next month. If you meet your goal, you can treat yourself to a manicure or new yoga leggings to celebrate. Sometimes, not focusing on the obvious (like how your body looks) and reward yourself for the hard work along the way can be inspiration enough to power on.
Accountability can mean everything when you’re trying to accomplish things but can’t seem to get it right. If you can’t seem to drive any inspiration from the above-mentioned ideas, working with a weight loss coach is also an option. Once you’ve shared your health and fitness goals with your coach, they will work with you to come up with a plan to help you succeed. From there they will work with you, checking in and helping you stay accountable. After all, it’s harder to skip the gym or reach for an extra sweet treat when you know someone else is holding you accountable. If you’re struggling, they can also be great people to confide in to find quick solutions.
If you’re trying to lose weight, but can’t seem to get the ball rolling, or feel stagnated by the minimal progress you’re seeing, don’t be discouraged. There are lots of people that go through the same struggles. However, if you stick to it, and find some inspiration, you will eventually achieve your goals. If you’re still having trouble with weight loss, it may be necessary to see a doctor to rule out things like hormones or another medical issue.
