TJ Maxx Style Scout Blogger Challenge – Stripes!

The Fashionable Housewife teamed up with A Few Goody Gumdrops recently to take part in the Maxx Style Scout Blogger Challenge. We were given a $100 gift card to shop at T.J. Maxx (our FAVORITE store!) and were sent on a mission to create a designer outfit for less based on the spring trend of black and white stripes.

Here is a snippet from our experience:

“Sarah received a T.J.Maxx gift card and we shopped til we dropped. We choose to style Sarah in one of this season’s hottest trends….black and white stripes. T.J.Maxx provided us with endless possibilities to find our personal style. We sought a very cool fashion-forward look.

If you ask me….Sarah and I did an amazing job with the designer outfit and accessories we chose. Sarah’s hair, makeup and cutting edge black and white nails were the perfect compliment to her ultra stylish outfit.” [Source]

Here are the items I found at TJ Maxx that were a LOT less than if I had shopped anywhere else.

I am SO honored to have had the opportunity to work with A Few Goody Gumdrops and TJ Maxx. I had an awesome time shopping in TJ’s (as I always do!) and I’m so amazed that we put together this fabulous outfit for $100! I am most excited about the ultra cool denim and leather biker jacket that was on sale. It’s so gorgeous and I will be able to style it in a million other outfits!

I saw so many things in TJ Maxx that were both totally on trend and very affordable. I could have spent many more hours in the store than I did because there was just so much to see! I will definitely be heading back there this coming week to grab a few more things including some home decor items for my living room that I am re decorating.

TJ Maxx has amazing designer items for a lot less than department stores, so you can leave knowing you will look like a million bucks but didn’t have to spend a million bucks!

I’m not much for partying, but I like an occasional excuse to make a good drink. Cinco De Mayo works for me!

My drink of choice for Cinco De Mayo? Definitely tequila! I decided to try out my new bottle of Alacran White Tequila and make a frozen drink!

Alacran Tequila Frozen Strawberry Margarita

I baked a nice tray of delicious nachos for all of us and we washed them down with a few frozen strawberry margaritas that I made with the Alacran Tequila. They were absolutely delicious! So yummy in fact, that I forgot to eat the nachos! I was too busy enjoying my strawberry margarita in the cool glass my mom got me for my birthday.

I’m already pretty partial to tequila. It’s my alcohol of choice most of the time, whether it’s in a mixed drink or just a shot. However, my husband hates tequila. (Bad college experience… need I say more?) Well, once I downed a shot of this Alacran white tequila and tasted how smooth and non-bitter it was, I insisted that my husband try it. He was brave and poured a shot. Much to his surprise (and mine) he actually LIKED it! Now that’s saying something for this tequila.

Definitely, hands down, one of the best tequila’s I’ve had the pleasure of drinking. Clean, smooth, slightly sweet even… and no hangover in the morning. This is Sunday night, done right.

I have definitely found a new favorite. It was love at first taste… If you like tequila (and even if you don’t!) I definitely recommend you try this if you see it in a bar or your local retailer. Please drink responsibly though!

Outfit Ideas: What To Wear For Valentine’s Day

If you haven’t noticed yet, we are giving a pair of Tsubo Lindara Wedge Pumps worth $180! These things are goooorgeous and I know you’ll love them!!!

I’m wearing them with tights, a skirt I got for $6 at JC Penny and a cute sweater I got on sale from Zulily for $15! I’m hoping we can find a babysitter to watch the kids tonight so my husband and I can go out for dinner since we haven’t had a date night in MONTHS!

Wondering what to wear for Valentine’s Day? This is one Outfit Idea that might work since it’s so darn cold out! Nice warm tights, cute heels, a skirt and a stylish sweater. I love this one because of the nice beadwork and see through mesh sleeves.

I feel like I haven’t had enough time to show you all the outfits I can create with the items I purchased. I’ve been mixing and matching all 15+ items I got for under $200 with pieces that were already in my wardrobe to create new Fall/Winter outfits.

Today I’m wearing the oxblood burgundy print jeggings I purchased at TJ’s for $16.99. They were not on sale, but they were so unique and gorgeous, I couldn’t pass them up. Oxblood is a popular Fall trend this year and I just had to get something in this rich, stunning color. These soft, stretchy pants fit the bill. Love them!

Wearing them with a denim chambray button down shirt I bought on eBay and that black leather cropped jacket I got from TJ Maxx on sale for $20. Love it! On my feet, my favorite heeled boots this season – Dansko Nat Lace-Up Leather Boots.

Today’s Outfit: TJ Maxx Score #4

Yes, this is yet another outfit made from items that I got during my big TJ Maxx Score. I’m mixing and matching all 15+ items I got for under $200 with items that were already in my wardrobe to create new Fall outfits.

One of my favorite pieces was a sheer black skull print blouse that I wore last week in Outfit #2 with the rust colored jeggings from TJ Maxx and my Dansko Nat Lace-Up Leather Boots. I mentioned I wanted to try wearing it with shorts and tights, so here’s my attempt…

These black fleece lined tights are like my new favorite thing in life. They are so comfortable!!!!! Soft and cozy on the inside, regular looking tights on the outside. No one has any idea how cozy these tights actually are! Okay so they are a little bulky and make my legs look a little bigger than they actually are, but they are so warm, I couldn’t care less.
