Cover Your Boots with CovFurs

Frigid temps finally hit the East Coast this week, and even if there isn’t any snow to speak of, winter is definitely here.  Which means you probably are going to spend a whole lot of time in boots.  Which can get pretty boring, because chances are everyone around you is wearing the same kind of boot.  If you want to stand out in the crowd a bit, try the new CovFurs.  Made of high quality faux fur, they add a rich elegant look to any boot and allow you to express your mood on any given day.  Feeling Furocious (sorry!)…try the tiger print:

Best Winter Snow Boots: Bearpaw Bristol Lined Boots

BEARPAW Women’s Bristol Boot shown above in “Birch” which is like a drab olive army greenish color. Be warned! Some websites do not show an accurate picture displaying the actual color of the “Birch” boots. Some websites make them appear more of a light tan or camel color, which they are NOT! Also note that the Birch color is the only color option that has a contrasting trim. These are lined with a beige fur.

These boots are also available in black with black fur, charcoal with grey fur and chocolate brown with brown fur. I personally like them in the olive green color with the beige trim myself!

Highlights

SUPER warm! They feature a genuine sheepskin/wool lining that offers the ultimate in softness and temperature regulation, while a sheepskin-covered footbed wicks moisture away for a cool, dry environment for your feet. These are IDEAL New England winter boots. If you have at least 2-3 months of below 32° F weather, then these are the boots for you!

Extremely durable! Unlike UGG boots (and similarly styled boots) these have an incredibly robust rubber outsole that isn’t slippery at all. I love my Ugg boots just as much as the next person, but I don’t like wearing them in the snow because I’m afraid of wrecking them AND because the sole is slippery on ice and snow. I don’t have that problem with these at all.

Comfortable! Because of the super soft and cozy sheepskin/wool lining, these feel like slippers on the inside. Slip them on and your foot is just enraptured in fuzzy warmth and squishiness. The suede outer is also soft to the touch.

Things to Note

They Run Narrow! These boots run a bit on the narrow side and only come in whole sizes. I recommend buying at LEAST 1 size larger than you normally wear. I usually wear a 7, I got these in a 7 and they are VERY snug to the point or crushing toes. I think I needed at least an 8 in these with barefeet, or a size 9 to wear with socks. Keep this in mind when ordering online! I would get them from Amazon.com or Endless.com so you can easily return them if you need a different size.

First Fashion Conundrum of 2012…

OK ladies, I’m back at it…this time it’s wedge booties.  Thumbs up or thumbs down?  There is something appealing about the shape and style of wedge booties but I can’t get over the clunky heaviness of the shoe.   I worry that they will only style well with jeans and cords, and that they might only work for the under 20 set.  Clearly someone is loving them because the Jolly has sold out TWICE on ShoeMint:

Jolly $79.98 at ShoeMint.com

And these Manor Ankle Wedges from Elizabeth & James are softly calling my name:

Manor Ankle Wedge $276 at Ssence.com

I feel that 2012 is the year to (gasp) become a bit more practical in shoe choices.  Something tells me wedge ankle boots are too trendy, and honestly, I’m getting a little tired of the super-high-platform-built-into-the-heel-just-to-add-more-height theme.  Seriously, those of us over 5’6″ could start our own basketball team wearing some of the latest heels!

But they are really cute…and they might “ground” a floaty plaid maxi skirt…and they are on sale…

So…I’m putting this one out to you, our fashionable readers.  Yes or No to ankle wedge booties?  Leave us a comment and tell us your opinion.  And if you have any great styling ideas, tell us those too!

Foul Weather Fashion Conundrum

Taking a break from frantic holiday shopping I find myself in yet another fashion conundrum.  Exhibit A:  Hunter Wellies.  The ultimate in practical, sloppy weather footwer, and available in a rainbow of colors to suit your climate or your mood or your outerwear.

Exhibit B:  Hunter’s Gabby Lace-Up High Heel Boots.  The not so practical (ergo the high heel) solution for sloppy weather.

Gabby Lace-Up High Heel Boots $195 at Shopbop

I just can’t see reaching for this when the puddles get deep and the roads get slick.  On the other hand, I have spent many a happy snowy day in my Hunter Wellies, provided I’m wearing the fuzzy liners to keep the frost at bay.  Not to mention that these Gabby Lace-Ups are kind of fugly.  They seem to work a bit better in black with a taller cut:

Part of me screams “NO WAY!”, but the part that loves heels and has several pairs of wedge and stacked heel winter “dress” boots says “WHY NOT?”  So I’m going to put this one out there to you, our Fashionable audience:  Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down on Hunter Wellies with Heels?  Leave us a comment and tell us what you think…

Shoes To Inspire A Spree

Have you reached that point in your holiday shopping where you just can’t stand it any more?  The practical stuff, the gifts for weird family members, the stocking stuffers…sometimes I just get a brain cramp from it all.  Generally, I love shopping, and I usually subscribe to the “one for you, two for me” rule when I’m on a gift buying mission, but there is SO much pressure attached to holiday shopping that I put it off to the last possible minute and then end up wishing that I had been more organized and thoughtful, and well,  you know where this is going…

However…I came across these shoes, and they are so radically outrageous and wonderful that I am actually INSPIRED to grab my wallet and finally find the perfect gift for everyone on my list:

Now if only I could afford these shoes I’d be all set!
