Comfortable Sandals for Women with Problem Feet

Not everyone can wear stilettos and high heels all day long! They are pretty and all, but let’s face it, most of them are pretty darn uncomfortable! Don’t worry, there are comfortable shoes in the world. You just have to know where to look.

When I was pregnant, my feet grew (swelled) almost a whole shoe size and none of my shoes fit. I pretty much lived in flip flops for my entire pregnancy because it was the only thing that would fit on my poor, fat feet. They weren’t very comfortable though, nor did they provide any support. Pregnancy does a lot to your body and wearing comfortable shoes or sandals during that time is quite important.

Pregnancy isn’t the only time comfortable shoes are a requirement. If you have young children you need to chase around all day, chances are you opt for comfortable sandals during the summer. And yet if your kids are all grown up and you are over 40, you probably have trouble feet and can’t wear those pumps anymore anyway.

Whether you suffer from diabetes or just have problem feet with issues like corns, bunions, custom orthotics or have recently had foot surgery, you need a comfortable pair of sandals you can wear all summer long. We found JUST the pair!

My Review: specializes in offering a wide selection of comfortable footwear for people with problem feet. I had the opportunity to review the Drew Milan Sandals and I found these shoes to be supremely comfortable. Not something I would wear everyday because they aren’t the most fashionable shoes in the universe, but if you are looking for comfort, support, ability to adjust and customize the fit as well as narrow and wide widths, then these are an ideal pair.

The casual style makes them versatile and easy to wear with anything in your wardrobe. The other day I wore them with my leopard print jeans rolled up, a white tank and a chambray button down shirt. I wore them all day and was amazed that I completely forgot they were even on my feet! I definitely recommend these sandals to anyone who is looking for supreme comfort this summer.

Review of Infiniti Pro by Conair™ Auto-Rotating Curling Iron

I got the opportunity to review the Infiniti Pro by Conair™ Auto-Rotating Curling Iron (model 202R) and my results turned out pretty good.

I rarely use curling irons. Okay that’s a lie. I NEVER use curling irons. Before I received this one to review, I pretty much hadn’t used a curling iron on my hair in about 15 years, so clearly I am not an expert. Which may or may not be a good thing… If I was an expert with curling irons, then I could probably use just about any curling iron and my hair would turn out great. However, since I am not an expert and my hair turned out relatively pretty, I can say that it MUST be because this is a great curling iron!

Here is the BEFORE:

bad hair day

This is what my hair looks like if I let it air dry. Not pretty.

I usually blow dry my bangs at the very least and then let the back air dry and it ends up looking like this.

Conair Curling Iron

Here is the Infiniti Pro by Conair™ Auto-Rotating Curling Iron (model 202R) and the Carbon Smooth Extra-Large Thermal Round Brush (model 85700). I used the round brush to blow dry my bangs and it worked quite nicely. I can’t wait to try it out with a full blowout.

curly curls

It took me about 20-25 minutes to curl about half of my hair. I have LONG THICK hair and should I mention again, that I didn’t know what I was doing?

Hair on curling iron

I got tired of how long it was taking me so I start putting more hair in each curl…

curly red hair

It took me a little over an hour to do the whole thing, but I think it turned out pretty good!

pretty curly red hair

I wish I had checked out some of Conair’s instructional videos on how to use the Auto-Rotating Curling Iron at In all honesty, it was kind of a spur of the moment idea to curl my hair, so I didn’t take the time to research how exactly to use it.

I still think I did pretty well considering I had no prior experience and there weren’t any real instructions with the curling iron on how to use it either. What do you ladies think? Do I pass or fail?

Looser, natural looking curls can be created with wider sections of hair, or you can amp up the sexiness by stopping the rotation a few inches from the scalp. The newest technology makes it simpler to clean off styling product residue and hair glides easily over the surface as you’re curling. The barrel has bi-directional rotation, and the no-slip silicone strip allows for deep shine. There is less damage and zero hot spots. This amazing tool has two unique high-heat temperature settings that provide styling versatility for all hair types reaching 400°F on high heat. POND’S Luminous Clean Line of Beauty Products

On Pond’s main web page, I found the following words: “Trust in a POND’S classic” … and like so many other women over the last 150 years, I have done exactly that! I learned to trust Pond’s from my mother, who no doubt learned about Pond’s from her own Mom. It’s the only product I’ve cleansed my face with since I was a teenager … and that isn’t really, um … recent. ;o)

I was delighted to be asked by the Fashionable Housewife to try some new Pond’s products: Pond’s “Luminous Clean” line, which includes Wet Cleansing Towelettes, Cream Cleanser, and Daily Exfoliating Cleanser. I found that all three products worked every bit as well as all of the many Ponds products I’ve tried in the past.

The Daily Exfoliating Cleanser was smooth and creamy, and left my skin feeling really clean and refreshed. The Cream Cleanser did a wonderful job removing my makeup, and leaving my face feeling soft and gleaming. The Wet Cleansing Towelettes were, indeed, wet, and didn’t just pretend to be! They were thick and soft, and were a joy to use.

In the interest of being certain that you actually get an honest “review”, and not simply another “ad”, I do have to admit that the fragrance in all three was just a bit much for my own taste, as it seemed to be excessively sweet. Almost like a watermelon scent? However, please keep in mind that the preference for one fragrance over another is quite personal, and I have no doubt that many of you will love these Ponds products as much for their fragrance as for their value and effectiveness.

Arnold and Oroweat Pocket Thins™ Flatbreads

I’m pretty picky when it comes to food which is one of the reasons you rarely see food reviews on this blog. Every once in a while though, I get food items to review that actually surprise me and become a part of my weekly shopping list. Arnold Pocket Thins™ are one of those items…

Arnold and Oroweat Pocket Thins™ flatbread are just 100-calories each and have 5 grams of fiber and 8 grams of whole grains. They are offered in Italian Herb and 8 Grain currently, and are sold under the Arnold® brand name in the East and Oroweat® in the West.

These are absolutely, hands down, the best flatbreads I have ever purchased in a grocery store. The Italian Herb flavor is definitely my family’s favorite. Very bold flavor, without overwheleming everything else you end up putting in your sandwich. Pictured above, we made simple sandwiches with mayo, mustard, lettuce, smoked turkey and pepper jack cheese.

Arnold’s pita style flatbreads are not only healthy and full of fiber, but children love them. At least my kids do and they are REALLY picky! It’s easier for them to hold with their tiny hands without making a mess, plus it’s soft and easy to chew.

I had a discussion with my mother in law last week about bread… She said her criteria for good sandwich bread was if she was able to leave a thumbprint in it, then it was good. “GROSS!” I exclaimed! “My criteria for good bread is NOT being able to leave a thumbprint in it! I don’t want doughy, mushy, stick-to-the-roof-of-your-mouth bread! How healthy can THAT be?!” Well, we can totally meet in the middle with these flatbreads because they are healthy and full of fiber, YET they don’t taste it! They are soft and fluffy without being mushy and thumbprintable. Yay.

The Children’s Place Gets Preppy for Spring- PLUS Contests!

With all the play 80s fashion has been getting for the past several years, I was pleased to see The Children’s Place featuring preppy looks when I shopped its Spring event a few days ago. While it’s true that stripes, plaids, and bows flood me with those fuzzy John Hughes-esque memories of my childhood, they’re also staples of classic fashion and always at home on kids.

I love the pretty looks that TCP is showing for girls:

and the preppy basics for boys:

Of course it’s TCP, so although timeless stripes and madras abound, there are also cheeky, trendy details to please edgy parents and kids. Just check out the “logo” on this striped polo:

And even though Punxsutawney Phil predicted six more weeks of winter, he’s a groundhog not a meteorologist, so I thing we’d all be wise to get our Spring shopping going. TheChildren’ is making that easy with the following offer, now thru 2/06:

30% off orders of $60+ with code U2G2012
25% off orders of $50+ with code V2G2012

Fuzzy Boots: Crocs CozyCrocs Fuzz Booties

Deliciously fuzzy, sensuously soft and terribly cute. These are without a doubt the warmest furry boots you’ll ever find.

They come in 2 colors – Stucco with Espresso trim and Brown with Black trim. I received the Stucco ones directly from Crocs to review. I can report that they are just beautiful!

I’ve been wearing these almost non stop since I received them. I’m in love! At first, I was afraid that I would look like I was walking around with long haired guinea pig’s strapped to my feet… Once I got them on though with some skinny jeans a cute sweater, they didn’t look over-the-top at all.

The fit is roomy and comfortable. If you wear a half size usually, I recommend buying the next whole size up. I usually wear 7.5, but I always get size 8 in Crocs for a perfect fit.

These boots really feel like slippers. If you’re looking for a supportive, resilient boot to wear whilst shoveling 5 feet of Vermont snow, then these might not be the best choice for you…. But for everyone else, these are a MUST-HAVE.

I have wide, athletic calves and these are roomy on me. Of all the boots I own (at least 25 pairs) these are the most roomy and I can wear them with any pants, not just slim or skinny ones. You could tuck fleece lined jeans into these and still be comfortable.

I also love that they are super, super lightweight. They are without a doubt THE most warm winter boots I own.

Best Winter Snow Boots: Bearpaw Bristol Lined Boots

BEARPAW Women’s Bristol Boot shown above in “Birch” which is like a drab olive army greenish color. Be warned! Some websites do not show an accurate picture displaying the actual color of the “Birch” boots. Some websites make them appear more of a light tan or camel color, which they are NOT! Also note that the Birch color is the only color option that has a contrasting trim. These are lined with a beige fur.

These boots are also available in black with black fur, charcoal with grey fur and chocolate brown with brown fur. I personally like them in the olive green color with the beige trim myself!

SUPER warm! They feature a genuine sheepskin/wool lining that offers the ultimate in softness and temperature regulation, while a sheepskin-covered footbed wicks moisture away for a cool, dry environment for your feet. These are IDEAL New England winter boots. If you have at least 2-3 months of below 32° F weather, then these are the boots for you!

Extremely durable! Unlike UGG boots (and similarly styled boots) these have an incredibly robust rubber outsole that isn’t slippery at all. I love my Ugg boots just as much as the next person, but I don’t like wearing them in the snow because I’m afraid of wrecking them AND because the sole is slippery on ice and snow. I don’t have that problem with these at all.

Comfortable! Because of the super soft and cozy sheepskin/wool lining, these feel like slippers on the inside. Slip them on and your foot is just enraptured in fuzzy warmth and squishiness. The suede outer is also soft to the touch.

Things to Note

They Run Narrow! These boots run a bit on the narrow side and only come in whole sizes. I recommend buying at LEAST 1 size larger than you normally wear. I usually wear a 7, I got these in a 7 and they are VERY snug to the point or crushing toes. I think I needed at least an 8 in these with barefeet, or a size 9 to wear with socks. Keep this in mind when ordering online! I would get them from or so you can easily return them if you need a different size.
