Marshalls The CUBE Needs Some Oomph…

cube_marshallsOr maybe it was just the particular Marshalls I went to… I have 2 in the town I live in. I planned to take a trip over to the other location before I wrote this post, but just haven’t gotten around to it.

My experience in the CUBE wasn’t totally depressing, but I was left thinking, “Is this it?”

The selection left a lot to be desired.

I went from rack to rack waiting for something to catch my eye, and was almost ready to give up when I finally found some awesome, dark purple Jolt Skinny Jeansicon. I grabbed 2 different sizes and headed for the changing rooms to try them on. To my surprise, the smaller size fit perfect.

I was pretty excited to find out later that I got a fantastic deal on them. They were only $15 at Marshalls, and currently $39.00 at Dillardsicon and $42.00 at Nordstromicon! Holy crap!

I went back to the CUBE to find something to match. The selection of designer items was slim, to say the least. I found a really cool Juicy Couture wallet, but couldn’t make myself drop $50 on a wallet no matter how much I liked it. To be safe, I went to the clearance rack in the CUBE to find something more affordable. Most of the tops were between $15 and $25 which wasn’t bad at all. Again, not a lot of options, but I was able to find a purple shirt, a cardigan, and a black and navy blue striped sweater all for under $50.

All in all, I was pretty satisfied with my purchases, but I am definitely hoping next time I go back there is more of a selection. I’d rather see more items in less sizes then a small selection, but lots of sizes to choose from. But that’s just me…

Have you been to the CUBE? What did you think??

Loving Marshalls New Shoe MegaShop!

I went to my local Marshalls last week, for the first time in a long time (I usually go to TJ Maxx) and was surprised to find the store looking completely different than the last time I was in there.

I quickly found the new Shoe MegaShop section and went up and down the isles looking at the shoes. The setup reminded me a lot of like DSW, except for the fact that it was a disaster! There were shoes on the floor in the middle of the isles, stuffing pulled out of the boxes were all over the place and there were open boxes of shoes stacked precariously. Even the shoes on display were tipped over. Being the ocd neat-freak that I am, I cleaned up what I could while I browsed around.

Great selection, not bad prices, and the clearance section wasn’t bad either. I found lots of shoes in my size in the clearance section for around $20, which was quite nice. So I grabbed a nice pair of red pumps for $20.

I really wanted a pair of boots though… So I went through to look at the boots once more and I found just the right pair! A gorgeous pair if Steve Madden Slouch boots in light brown for only $49.95. Unfortunately they only had 2 sizes left! One pair was size 9 and the other pair was size 7.5 (I wear sz 7) Well, I liked them so much that I bought the size 7.5 anyway and figured I’d put some nice, soft insoles in them and wear them with thick socks instead of tights.

The rest of the store was a lot neater and cleaner, so maybe they had a busy day in the shoe section and hadn’t had a chance to clean up? After all, it was a Friday evening… I think the children’s part of the shoe section was unnecessarily large. I would have liked to see at least 60% of that space taken up with a bigger selection of Women’s shoes. However, their new shoe section is much bigger than other stores like TJ Maxx and AJ Wrights, so I can’t really complain. I’m just a shoe-gal who likes lots of shoes!

All in all a good shopping experience and I would probably go back and recommend it to a friend. I think next time I’ll go to a different Marshalls a little further from where I live to see if that one is better staffed.

Check out your local Marshalls Shoe MegaShop and let me know what you think!
