Tips For Shopping at Macy’s This Season

Put your Santa hat on and get ready for hearty appreciation from your friends and family! It’s easier than ever to get gifts for everyone on your list with Macy’s Holiday Gift Guide.

You might think that buying clothing and accessories like a tie for dad or socks for your cousin are a Christmas cliché but it’s actually the perfect time to get something for someone that they wouldn’t buy themselves.

When you are trying to pick out the perfect present, think about items that people wouldn’t normally splurge on. Perhaps your mom might like a cashmere sweater? Maybe your aunt would want some cold weather accessories like a merino wool scarf or leather gloves?

Whatever you decide to buy, make sure you are getting the best deal so you won’t go over budget! Make a Holiday Shopping budget and stick to it, so you won’t feel the pain in your checkbook come January. We like to set an amount for each adult and each child on our list.

One of the best ways to save money (and time) is to shop big holiday sales like Macy’s upcoming Black Friday sale and Macy’s Cyber Monday holiday sale. You’ll get the biggest bang for your buck and have money left over to get a little something for yourself!

If you shop online during Macy’s Black Friday Sale, you can get great deals starting Thursday, November 22nd. Free shipping on all orders over $99, everyday! No coupon code necessary. Then head into your nearest Macy’s store for fantastic deals starting midnight, Nov 23rd.

Today’s Outfit: Baby Phat White Blouse

It’s actually starting to feel like summer, finally

Today, I’m wearing my FAVORITE sandals, Sofft Trieste. I got them a number of years ago from Shoeline.com to review and they quickly became my fav shoes ever. I find myself throwing them on whenever I can. They look hot and yet they are so easy to walk in. What more could you want in a shoe?!

Get the Look for Less, Ali Larter

It’s so weird that it is now January here in the Northeast yet we are still having some somewhat MILD weather! I stocked up on the sweaters and battened down the hatches as far as just pulling the sweater card and winterizing my wardrobe. But when we are given the opportunity to let the public see our winter wardrobes, we need to step it up… like Ali Larter. She looks effortlessly gorge and casual at the same time. Get her look for less!

Giambattista Valli for Macy’s

We have loved anything that has come from Macy’s IMPULSE (ahem Karl Lagerfield a thank you) and when Macy’s announced that their last and most recent capsule collection would come from Giambattista Valli, well, we were visibly excited. Check out the snapshots that we were lucky enough to get before the line launches in limited Macy’s locations on October 26th.

“This capsule reflects my enduring loves, but is really a celebration of my biggest inspiration of all- the energy and vitality of women themselves,” said Giambattista Valli. “I love dressing them for all their happiest moment, making them feel as special as possible. This collection is a passport into my world and a chance to experience the passion and romance of my house and Paris itself.”

Rompers for the Beach and the Boardroom

Rompers are showing up everywhere this summer in magazines and catalogues, on runways and celebrities.  Combining the fun of shorts and minis with the ease of dresses, rompers can be a stylish way to deal with hot summer days.  The right cut and style can be dressed up enough to be office appropriate.  There are even rompers that will take you to a chic party and have everyone commenting on how fabulous you look.  Here are some of my favorites:

For a beachy vibe or a back yard barbeque try this sassy number:

BCBGeneration Romper, $98 at Macys

If your office isn’t coat and tie formal, this romper with a pair of heels and discreet jewelry would meet most corporate dress protocols:

Gianni Bini Megan Romper $98 at Dillards

And for a romantic evening or dinner under the stars, you can’t go wrong with this sexy chiffon romper:

Wide Leg Chiffon Jumpsuit, $148 at Free People

Of course nobody mentions the fact (except me!) that rompers pose a bit of a fashion challenge when nature calls, but if you are willing to deal with a bit of a hassle now and then, rompers can be a great way to add some diversity and fun to your summer wardrobe.
