Bobbi Brown Cabana Corals Makeup Collection for Spring / Summer 2010

This coral-inspired collection from Bobbi Brown is the perfect collection for the summer season!

I got to try out a couple products from the new collection and I’m super excited. I don’t usually post about makeup because I get stuck in a rut with the same products, but these definitely made me change up my routine.

The Bobbi Brown Pink Quartz Shimmer Brick is one of my favorite compacts in my makeup bag now. This shimmering, brush-on powder creates a soft, warm pink glow. Works well with neutral and pink blush shades or all alone. I’ve also used each individual color as eyeshadow for a great daytime look.

My favorite lipstick was the Bobbi Brown Metallic Lip Color in Coral Reef. This Metallic Lip Color is made with a unique combination of high-shine emollients and light-reflective pearls for medium coverage with multi-dimensional shimmer. Coral Reef is the perfect medium pink coral color that perfectly compliments pale skin tones, anyone with red hair, and those who are looking for the perfect neutral color for everyday wear.

Bobbi’s lip gloss is unlike anything I’ve ever tried before. It comes in the cutest little square tube and applies expertly with a small brush, similar to a nail polish brush, but shorter. Formulated with aloe extract to soothe and soften lips; vitamins C and E for antioxidant protection; and jojoba and avocado oils to keep lips moisturized. My favorite color in the Coral Collection was the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Lip Gloss in Coral Sand which is the nicest neutral lip gloss shade ever. It’s perfect alone for a casual glossy lip or apply it over your favorite lipstick to add a shimmer and gorgeous glossy look.

Benefit Cosmetics Lip Gloss Fall 2009 Colors

I tried taking pictures of each color on my lips, but for some reason my camera is refusing to work. Every single picture came out blurry and I was so discouraged, I didn’t bother to take them all over again. Personally I prefer Benefit’s new lip gloss over Urban Decay’s Pocket Rocket Lip Gloss. While I like the container of of UD Pocket Rocket Lip Gloss, the applicator leaves a lot to be desired compared to the neat angled sponge applicator in the Benefit Lip Gloss.

My only complaint is the wand isn’t stiff and you expect it to be. So when you are sweeping the color over your lips, you can’t put a lot of pressure or the wand will bend. I don’t know if this is a feature or a flaw. I guess it depends on what you are used to and what you like. I would prefer it to be a little stiffer, myself.

Other than that, the gloss itself is smooth, non sticky, has a nice shimmer to it and lovely scent and light flavor. The shades are actually lighter than they appear in the tube so don’t worry about trying one of the darker shades. They look great alone or layered over lipstick.
