Save The Earth, One Bambooee At A Time!

bambooeeYou can help save the earth by using less paper towels each day! Yeah, that’s pretty obvious, right? Well, you don’t just stop using paper towels, cold turkey. Just switch to Bambooee!

So, what the heck is a Bambooee you ask?

Bambooee is a reusable bamboo towel that replaces generic paper towels that helps reduce the 3,000 tons of paper towel waste people generate each day! They are thicker and more absorbent then even the “luxury” paper towels and Bambooee can be washed and reused over 100 times without losing integrity. Just one roll of Bambooee is equivalent to 286 standard paper towel rolls.

Just clean up your usual messes all day long and at the end of the day, toss it into the washing machine to be ready for the next mess in no time.

5 Things You Need For A Cruelty Free Makeup Routine

Urban Decay Good Karma Brushes

urban decay makeup brushesTime to ditch those disgusting, old makeup brushes from the drugstore and replace them with high performance, artist-quality, cruelty free, vegan and eco-friendly makeup brushes from Urban Decay. With 12 different Good Karma Brushes in the collection, you are sure to find the perfect brushes to suit your needs.

Bonus number one – Each brush comes encased in a magnetic box fashioned out of recycled egg cartons. Super cute.

Bonus number two – The super-soft synthetic brush hair is made from recycled PET bottles, and the sleek gunmetal brush handles are recycled aluminum. (Synthetic hair on makeup brushes are actually a huge bonus because the fibers don’t hold on to stinky bacteria the way porous animal hair does so these brushes stay cleaner!)

Bonus number three – Their line of brushes have actual names that tell you which brush to use for what/where. No more guessing!

Earth Day Feature: The Mountain Big Face Tees

Not only do I love products that are made in the USA, but I especially love local companies, which is why I am featuring The Mountain as our Top Pick for Earth Day 2013!

The Mountain Tees in Venice Beach

Not only do they have a huge selection of their famous and super cool BIG FACE TEES, but they have sundresses and long sleeve shirts too! I’m absolutely in love with this Orangutan Baby Sundress. It’s so adorable! (I think it would look great with a denim jacket and some cute wedge sandals!)

greenest t-shirt company in the usThe Mountain is hands down, the greenest, most earth day friendly tee shirt company in the US.

The company creates, develops, dyes, and prints in Marlborough, NH and ship from Keene, NH USA which makes their carbon footprint much smaller than most companies that dye and print overseas. Not only is this eco-friendly, but it allows for a quick turn-around for getting the shirts to their valued customers.

    • Over 80% of the cotton in their shirts is grown in the USA

    • They use Organic Reactive Dyes to create over 600 colors

    • They use waterbase inks to create the amazing soft feel to their prints (99.5% of other T-Shirt printers use petroleum based ink to create their designs on apparel)

    • Their t-shirts are 100% preshrunk cotton (even the thread that holds it together is cotton). If washed according to the label instructions, in cold water, not only will the shirt stay at the same size as when you purchased it, but the print will remain vibrant for years to come.

Learn more here. They really have some awesome things going on at that company.

The Mountain Cat Shirt

Happy Earth Day everyone!

Today I’m wearing Emerald Eyes Cat t-shirt from The Mountain t-shirt company in Keene, NH – about an hour from where I live. (I love local companies!)

The Mountain is always striving to lessen their impact on the environment by using organic dyes and water-based inks. They even have a new dye oxidation system that they invented that actually cleans the dye waste water without the use of any chemicals. Truly a company that is doing good things! Read more about the green initiative here.

I’ve paired this eco-friendly shirt with HKNB Tech Capris and my fav sneakers – Reebok Easytone.

We removed a wall in our house this weekend, opening up our hallway into the living room which added about 3′ of width to the living room (like 30+ square feet all together?) making it feel a lot bigger, more open and sunny. I LOVE IT! But I’m left with a house that looks like a demolition site, so needless to say, I have a lot of cleaning up to do today.
