Dr. Scholl’s Shoes Jamie Trainer Sneakers Review

If you haven’t watched my You Tube video introduction of the NEW Dr. Scholl’s Original 2.0 sandals, then you need check it out!

The Dr. Scholl’s Jamie Trainer was the second pair of Fall shoes that Dr. Scholl’s asked me to review.

I’m a mother of 2 young children, but to be honest, I’m not much of a sneaker gal. I like comfortable shoes but I don’t usually want to LOOK like I’m comfortable… Afterall I’m The Fashionable Housewife! lol

Well, I was a little hesitant to try these on when I saw the picture on the outside of the box. Once I opened the box though and actually took them out and looked at them, I warmed right up!

They look a lot like Converse sneakers but are WAY more comfortable! I almost died… I could not believe how soft, supple, squishy and ultimately comfortable these sneakers were! Can I wear these to bed? Seriously!!!! I haven’t even felt slippers this comfortable….

Description:

  • Canvas upper in an athletic sneaker style with a round toe
  • Free Step(TM) minimalist construction creates a natural foot strike
  • Lace-up front, side medial eyelets
  • Neoprene stretch collar
  • Seamless Dri-Lex(R) lining wicks moisture away
  • Aegis Microbe Shield(R) controls odor
  • Removable insole with Dr. Scholl’s(R) Massaging Gel
  • Traction outsole, flat heel

It’s got to be those Dr. Scholl’s Massaging Gel Insoles ($19) that make them so gosh darn comfy…. The sole is super flexible which made me want to dance in them all day. No break-in period required with these! Though, keep in mind these do not have arch support so if you feel you really need arch support you might want to get a different insole for these. They have removable gel insoles so they can easily be switched out.

I wore these to a Labor Day party and I had them on for about 9 or 10 hours. This was my first day wearing them and I had no blisters, no discomfort, just pure squishy bliss all day long. I wore them with PowerSox CoolMax No Show Socks which was a great combo but you really don’t have to wear socks with the Jamie Trainer since they have such a comfy lining.

These sneakers SLIP ON. Super convenient for busy moms or when traveling (going through airport security, roadtrips, etc). The laces are just aesthetic to make them look like a sporty sneaker, although they will tighten a bit if you need them to be a bit more snug. I have wide feet and I buy wide width whenever available. I found these fit me quite well so if you have narrow feet, you may find that these might be too wide for you. This could be remedied by wearing thicker socks though as far as fit goes.

If you are thinking of getting a pair of Converse sneakers, STOP! Try these first! So much cuter and miles more comfortable! You’ll never want to wear any other shoes ever again! They are hands-down the most comfortable sneakers I have ever worn.

They come in lots of great color combos. Here are a few of my favorites…

Naya ‘Samara’ Ankle Wrap Eco-Friendly Sandals

Have you been eyeing ankle wrap sandals, but haven’t been sure which pair to try? Then you might want to check out the Naya Samara sandals!

These sandals aren’t just pretty, they are earth friendly too! Made from vegetable leather and a bamboo heel. Naya is an environmentally friendly brand that is offering fashionable footwear that feels good and is good for the earth too.

These sandals are soft and supple with feminine pleating and attention to detail. On trend and elegant, these easy to wear sandals are beautiful on your feet and surprisingly comfortable to the step. I love the soft leather insole that is cushioned in all the right places.

The ankle wrap is roomy and it doesn’t give you cankles! I have pretty thick, muscular ankles and these are loose on me and actually make my ankles look thinner. Even if they were tight, they would still fit because it is elasticized! The inside of the ankle wrap is lined in soft tribal print cotton that is lightweight so it’s not hot on summer days.

The back comes up a little too high for me, so I think with extended wear, the back of my ankle may get irritated, but I would have to wear them for more than a few hours to find out. That would be the only downside I have found so far. Other than that, they are fabulous!

This picture does NOT do them justice! My poor little toes haven’t seen sunshine in six months so they look terrible. Don’t mind them… Just look at the beautiful sandals!

Overpriced? No. I’ve seen lots of other sandals and heels in this price range that aren’t half as nice as these. Not to mention that these sandals are eco-friendly…

Sofft Trieste Cork Wedge Sandals

I got these Sofft cork wedges to review and I think they are the perfect summer shoe! I saw them on the model (shown below) in the Sofft Spring 2011 campaign and I fell in love… I knew I just had to have them.

The Sofft Trieste are surprisingly comfortable for 3 inch heels! I got them in white and I love them! Fairly easy to walk in and super trendy, these cork wedges are unique enough to turn heads but they will be loved for more than just one season.

Sofft Trieste : White - Womens Sofft Trieste : Black - Womens Sofft Trieste : Denim - Womens Sofft Trieste : Anthracite - Womens

CONS: Let’s start off with what’s not to love about these… Honestly, I wish the heel was a little wider. It goes down to a very narrow little square so if you walk on an uneven surface like anything but a sidewalk, you might twist your ankle. At least I would twist my ankle… I’m not used to walking in heels anymore (I’ve been chasing around 2 kids under 3 years old) BUT they are very comfortable to walk in if I don’t have my 22 pound 6 month old on my hip!

PROS: I LOVE how they look on my feet. The caged look is really trendy and cute and the shape of them makes your ankles look SKINNY! (For me, that’s something I actually look for in a shoe because I’m a little self conscious about my muscular legs) These sandals are very versatile and will look great with anything from sun dresses to shorts and pants. Very, very cute!

I highly recommend these if you are looking for a comfortable wedge for summer. I almost wore them when I went out today, but there was a chance of rain in the forecast, so I decided not to. Don’t want to ruin them!

Softspots Neima Comfortable Slingback Heels

These would be the perfect comfortable wedding shoes! Not just for dress up, these basic slingbacks go with just about everything. I can’t think of anything they wouldn’t go with!

The Softspots Neima is available in 11 amazing colors and textures including leather and patent leather.

These are the perfect basic shoe for everyone’s wardrobe. The insole is incredibly comfy making them ideal for a long day on your feet. I would highly recommend these for a wedding or any other special occasion where you might be on your feet for several hours at a time. The heel height is easy to walk and stand in, making them perfect for all day comfort too.

I think these would also be a great work shoe! I love everything about these shoes and I definitely recommend them. I got mine in a size 7 wide and they were actually too wide. I usually get wide width if it’s available because I find they are more comfortable even though my feet are not really that wide. However with these (and most Softspots shoes) I didn’t need to get wide width for them to be comfortable because Softspots are already roomy. So I sent them back and got size 7 regular width and they fit PERFECT! Not only that, these are a relatively affordable style to invest in and they are very durable and well made.

Gentle Souls ‘Gabby’ Comfortable Ballet Flats Review

I recently teamed up with Planet Shoes to review a pair of Gentle Souls. I wasn’t familiar with the brand – a take off from Kenneth Cole.

I chose to review the Gentle Souls Gabby because I had yet to find a ballet flat that fit me perfectly and met all my needs in a flat. These looked promising…

Gentle Souls Gabby Flats, Loafers and Slip Ons Women Black Leather

Much to my surprise, they were supremely comfortable. Like ridiculously and unbelievably comfortable. The softest most supple leather you’ve ever felt on the outside and even softer leather on the inside. They are like silk pajamas for your feet!!

The day I got them in the mail, I immediately put them on and barely even thought about them again. I wore them all day (at least 8 hours) and they were so comfortable, I didn’t even remember I had them on. Seriously. They are like the next best thing to being barefoot.

The Womens Gentle Souls Gabby Flat is chic, stylish and extremely comfortable. This mary jane inspired ballerina flat is made of a leather upper and a smooth deerskin lining. A padded flax seed cushioned footbed provides the perfect amount of comfort in every step and a rubber sole will keep you sturdy on your toes. For something a little different and lot of fun, slip into the Gentle Souls Gabby Flat this spring.

Are they worth the $195 price tag? I have to say for me, I’d say YES. I’ve tried, worn and reviewed a lot of ballet flats and most of them just don’t fit right. Too stiff, no arch support, too much arch support, too narrow, too short, back to high and digs into my heel, no elastic and they slip off, rubbing, blisters, etc etc. I’m sure you can sympathize! I didn’t have ANY of those problems with these flats though.

The arch support is adequate and not uncomfortable. They are soft and supple so there is no rubbing or uncomfortable spots when you wear them. They don’t slip off your heel because of the nice, wide mary jane style strap and the back isn’t stiff so it doesn’t dig into my heel.

I can’t say enough nice things about these shoes. Seriously. Steep price for a ballet flat, but well worth the money since you don’t have to suffer while breaking them in AND they are supremely comfortable.

Born Louise Comfortable Ballet Flats Review

NAME: Born Louise

The nut color is just beautiful! Like a warm mocha that goes great with everything from jeans, skinnies, khakis, shorts, skirts and casual-dresses. These flats fit a little tight on me barefoot, but may get more comfortable with longer wear. I think a half size bigger would have been too big without a sock so I stuck with the size I got instead of exchanging for a bigger size. They have excellent arch support, comfortable, flexible sole and just overall very comfy! Great choice for Spring! I highly recommend these shoes.

The Sparkliest Uggs Ever

With yet another snowstorm scheduled to incapacitate the East Coast this week,  my Ugg boots and I are becoming good friends.  I was on the official Ugg website sussing out some new styles when I came across these beauties:

Ugg Classic Sparkle Boots $170 at UggAustralia.com

The Classic Women’s Ugg Shortie in the super sequin style!  Available in Black, Silver and Gold, imagine the fun you can have with these boots!  I was picking up my teenage daughter from a school dance last week and the common uniform was cutoffs and Ugg boots rolled down to just above the ankle.   It would be like a throw back to Studio 54 if the tween/teen set got a line on these!

Like all Ugg boots and slippers, I’m sure these are super comfortable, but they don’t seem to be not all that practical.  But they definitely would brighten up a cold and an snowy winter day.  (Although the model here doesn’t look like she is too troubled with the weather.  And she sure is rockin’ the boots!)

What do you think?  Thumbs up or thumbs down on the sequins?  Post a comment and let us know.
