How To Wear Bright Colors for Spring

It’s time to pack away those dark, wintery colors and bring on the pastels, neons and other bright colors for spring! We are seeing more bright colors than ever this season but it can be overwhelming if you are used to wearing neutrals. Don’t worry, incorporating bright colors into your spring wardrobe is easier (and less circus-like) than you think!

Pair brightly colored jeans or pants with a basic striped tee, a chambray shirt or denim jacket and nude flats. Easiest outfit EVER.

Pair bright shoes with denim skinnies, neutral blouse or tee (think white, gray, nude, pale pink), a neutral blazer (like navy, black, dark gray) and a brightly colored necklace or other bright accessories for a hint of color in your ensemble. Check out the bright accessories below for ideas!

If you are afraid of color, start with some fun, brightly colored accessories like this coral scarf or yellow bubble necklace. Pair them with anything you would normally wear from a sundress to jeans. Mix and match! I like to carry a bright bag or colorful wallet like the one above from MyWalit. It just screams happiness!

If you are ready to pull out the big guns this spring, shop for a brightly colored dress in one of this season’s hottest hues like neon yellow or bright pink. Pair with a denim jacket or neutral colored blazer and nude heels for a look that is both fashion forward and ready for spring!

Whats your favorite way to wear bright colors? Are you afraid to step outside your comfort zone?

Today’s Outfit: Rock & Republic Jeans and Sweater

Rock & Republic for Kohl's

Check it out… It’s another pair of Rock & Republic jeans! I saved the best for last…

These Rock & Republic Berlin Skinny Jeans have gold studded R’s on the back pockets that are endlessly cool. I think they go great with this Rock & Republic black cable knit sweater I got on sale for $8.40! It was originally $84.00. What a bargain, right? I love the iridescent sheen on the front. It’s kinda flip-flop color in the sunshine too which is cool.

I also found this amazing Sonoma brand necklace at Kohl’s, on sale for $4.80 (Originally $24.00). It came in brown leather with gold studs (shown below) and gray leather with silver studs. I decided to get the gold one because all my “eclectic” jewelry is gold tone.

My mom actually came across these earrings while we were shopping together in Kohl’s and insisted they were totally “ME”. On sale for $5.60? Yes, I brought them home! I really like them because not only do they go with the necklace, but they go with a lot of other items I already own. Definitively a good investment!

Kohl’s provided me with the Rock & Republic Jeans for this review/post.
They also provided me with a gift card to complete my look.
My thoughts and opinions are my own, regardless of monetary compensation.
My opinion is that Kohl’s is pretty, damn awesome.

Today’s Outfit: Chadwicks Curvy Fit Bootcut Jeans

Hanging out in Curvy Fit 4-Way Stretch Bootcut Jeans from Chadwicks with my favorite white blouse from Zamrie!

These jeans from Chadwicks are pretty darn comfortable. High enough waist to hold in the “mom belly”, but not so high that they look like “mom jeans”. Affordable priced at $40 a pair and Chadwicks is always having great sales so keep your eye peeled and snag a pair when you can. You’ll be glad you checked them out.

I also love this top from Zamrie. Expensive, I know, but cut so perfect and it looks so professional and sleek. It’s my go-to top when I want to “look the part” and put my best foot forward. I can dress it down with jeans or dress it up with black suit pants or a pencil skirt. I just adore this top!

I’m wearing my standby Born sandals from several seasons ago. They are still my favorite black sandals because they are comfortable enough to wear all day long and the heel is just the right height for me.

I’ve accessorized with some baubles from and Kohls.

Personal Weakness: Shopping on

I have a confession to make… I am addicted to Rue La La and as far as I know, there is no known cure.

Best part of my weekend? Rue La La’s Sunday Night Styleathon Boutique. It opens at 8pm EST almost every Sunday night (as far back as I can remember!) and it features some of my favorite brands, although the brand selection and item choices are different every week.

Shop Today!

I’ve scored so many amazing items on, it’s ridiculous. My latest score was a pair of Born ankle booties…

They retail for $125, the cheapest I found them anywhere online for was $94.99 on

So when I saw these puppies on RueLala for only $59.90, (over 50% off!) you bet your sweet bottom I grabbed them so quick, my credit card didn’t know what hit it.

I was so excited when these arrived in the mail! They are so soft, supple, sumptuous and stylish. Now if some of this darn snow would go away so I could try them out, I’d be one happy, happy girl.

I’m going to use the excuse that I bought these for myself for my birthday…. It’s next Sunday, so it counts, right?

Today’s Outfit: Tunic & Marika Miracles Slimming Capri

I got this super cool Shu Shu Orange Abstract Graffiti Tunic on ZULILY for only $24.99 (Originally $75). I don’t have much for orange in my wardrobe so this is me sticking my big toe into the water! It isn’t “orange” but it has enough orange in it to make me feel like I’m trying out the “orange trend” which is super popular for Spring 2012.

I didn’t think this tunic would be so huge on me when I bought it! On the model, it looked like a regular tunic… on me, it looks like a dress! I like it though because it’s a very comfy, stretchy material but it’s lightweight and airy for hot summer days. I’m wearing it with Marika Miracles Slimming Capris that have built in shapewear that slim your tummy and thighs. These capris feature power mesh on the side panels and on the waistband for compression and support, breathable gusset lining to keep you dry. I wanted them in a medium, but they sent me size small. To my surprise, they fit perfect and sucked everything in nicely without being too tight or uncomfortable. I love them!

Born Louise Comfortable Ballet Flats Review

NAME: Born Louise

The nut color is just beautiful! Like a warm mocha that goes great with everything from jeans, skinnies, khakis, shorts, skirts and casual-dresses. These flats fit a little tight on me barefoot, but may get more comfortable with longer wear. I think a half size bigger would have been too big without a sock so I stuck with the size I got instead of exchanging for a bigger size. They have excellent arch support, comfortable, flexible sole and just overall very comfy! Great choice for Spring! I highly recommend these shoes.
