How To Wear Bright Colors for Spring

It’s time to pack away those dark, wintery colors and bring on the pastels, neons and other bright colors for spring! We are seeing more bright colors than ever this season but it can be overwhelming if you are used to wearing neutrals. Don’t worry, incorporating bright colors into your spring wardrobe is easier (and less circus-like) than you think!

HOW TO WEAR BRIGHT PANTS:

Pair brightly colored jeans or pants with a basic striped tee, a chambray shirt or denim jacket and nude flats. Easiest outfit EVER.

HOW TO WEAR BRIGHT SHOES:

Pair bright shoes with denim skinnies, neutral blouse or tee (think white, gray, nude, pale pink), a neutral blazer (like navy, black, dark gray) and a brightly colored necklace or other bright accessories for a hint of color in your ensemble. Check out the bright accessories below for ideas!

HOW TO WEAR BRIGHT ACCESSORIES:

If you are afraid of color, start with some fun, brightly colored accessories like this coral scarf or yellow bubble necklace. Pair them with anything you would normally wear from a sundress to jeans. Mix and match! I like to carry a bright bag or colorful wallet like the one above from MyWalit. It just screams happiness!

HOW TO WEAR BRIGHT DRESSES:

If you are ready to pull out the big guns this spring, shop for a brightly colored dress in one of this season’s hottest hues like neon yellow or bright pink. Pair with a denim jacket or neutral colored blazer and nude heels for a look that is both fashion forward and ready for spring!

Whats your favorite way to wear bright colors? Are you afraid to step outside your comfort zone?

Personal Weakness: Shopping on RueLala.com

I have a confession to make… I am addicted to Rue La La and as far as I know, there is no known cure.

Best part of my weekend? Rue La La’s Sunday Night Styleathon Boutique. It opens at 8pm EST almost every Sunday night (as far back as I can remember!) and it features some of my favorite brands, although the brand selection and item choices are different every week.

I’ve scored so many amazing items on Ruelala.com, it’s ridiculous. My latest score was a pair of Born ankle booties…

They retail for $125, the cheapest I found them anywhere online for was $94.99 on 6pm.com.

So when I saw these puppies on RueLala for only $59.90, (over 50% off!) you bet your sweet bottom I grabbed them so quick, my credit card didn’t know what hit it.

I was so excited when these arrived in the mail! They are so soft, supple, sumptuous and stylish. Now if some of this darn snow would go away so I could try them out, I’d be one happy, happy girl.

I’m going to use the excuse that I bought these for myself for my birthday…. It’s next Sunday, so it counts, right?

Today’s Outfit: Tunic & Marika Miracles Slimming Capri

I got this super cool Shu Shu Orange Abstract Graffiti Tunic on ZULILY for only $24.99 (Originally $75). I don’t have much for orange in my wardrobe so this is me sticking my big toe into the water! It isn’t “orange” but it has enough orange in it to make me feel like I’m trying out the “orange trend” which is super popular for Spring 2012.

I didn’t think this tunic would be so huge on me when I bought it! On the model, it looked like a regular tunic… on me, it looks like a dress! I like it though because it’s a very comfy, stretchy material but it’s lightweight and airy for hot summer days. I’m wearing it with Marika Miracles Slimming Capris that have built in shapewear that slim your tummy and thighs. These capris feature power mesh on the side panels and on the waistband for compression and support, breathable gusset lining to keep you dry. I wanted them in a medium, but they sent me size small. To my surprise, they fit perfect and sucked everything in nicely without being too tight or uncomfortable. I love them!

Born Louise Comfortable Ballet Flats Review

NAME: Born Louise

The nut color is just beautiful! Like a warm mocha that goes great with everything from jeans, skinnies, khakis, shorts, skirts and casual-dresses. These flats fit a little tight on me barefoot, but may get more comfortable with longer wear. I think a half size bigger would have been too big without a sock so I stuck with the size I got instead of exchanging for a bigger size. They have excellent arch support, comfortable, flexible sole and just overall very comfy! Great choice for Spring! I highly recommend these shoes.

Review: Born Nordi Comfortable Strappy Sandals

Born Nordi

I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant, so please try to excuse my red, swollen feet and ankles. My feet don’t normally look like this… Honest!

My husband was nice enough to photograph me wearing these cute sandals so I could show you how nice they are. I’ve been wearing these Born Nordi sandals for about a month now and they have quickly become one of my favorite pairs of sandals this summer.

When you want the look of a strappy sandal, but not the height – this gorgeous flat is a terrific option. Reminiscent of the gladiator styles of last summer, these sandals offer style and versatility in one sleek line that will allow you to walk for hours in total comfort.

Style: Five stars! Now most gladiator sandals you have to be careful with because the ankle straps immediately add like 15lbs to your figure, making legs look short and stalky. You don’t have to worry about that with these cuties!
Comfort: The piece that goes between your toes is soft, cushioned and very comfortable. The footbed is fully cushioned, offers mild arch support, and is flexible so you can wear them for hours fresh out of the box, without a problem at all. I usually get blisters pretty easily and I haven’t had any irritation with these at all.
Value: Amazing. You’ll get a ton of wear out of these for the price. They can be easily dressed up for a wedding or dinner date, or dressed for for weekend wear with shorts and tank. You could get a pair of these in black and another pair in either silver or gold and never have to wear another pair of shoes all summer. They seriously look great with everything.
Fit: Perfect. You will be hard pressed to find another pair of flat sandals that are this comfortable, fit this nicely and can go with absolutely everything in your wardrobe. I got these in a size 7 (my normal size) and they fit me perfect. I have slightly wider than normal feet and I find these accommodate my feet quite well. They are so wide that they would look clunky on someone with slimmer feet though. They are just made perfectly.

These sandals come in black (shown above), silver and gold.
