Timberland Earthkeepers Rudston Boots Review

My favorite thing about Fall is getting to wear boots! I have so many beautiful pairs of boots in my closet but unfortunately I found that my feet got bigger after having my second child! So now I can’t wear most of my boots….

Lucky for me though, I got a new pair of knee length boots to review! The Timberland Earthkeepers™ Rudston Waterproof Pull-On Boots are the perfect go-to boots for Fall. They are made from premium full-grain waterproof leather and suede upper for rugged durability and feature a easy pull-on boot style with pull tabs.

These boots can easily go with jeans, pants, leggings, knee socks, bare legs, etc. Whatever if in your Fall wardrobe, these boots will look great with! I got mine in Golden Beige which I think will look great with just about everything.

Earthkeepers™ products represent Timberland’s environmental values in action which you have to appreciate. The printed 100% recycled PET mesh lining with a cute leaf print; the lining is made from recycled plastic bottles, surprisingly comfortable, breathable and environmentally conscious. My only issue with the boots has been that the calf circumference is only 14 inches. These boots look GREAT on my mom who has super skinny little legs but on my athletic *ahem* calves, they don’t look as good. In fact, if you have bigger calves, these boots probably won’t work for you. My mom can easily wear thick jeans and tuck them into these boots and they look great. If I wear them with tights, the top of the boot is snug against my calf and it’s really not an attractive look on me…

They look awesome on my mom though…

The History of the Classic Daiquiri

Ever wonder who invented some of the things you enjoy most? If you’re like me, once in a while you just sit back and marvel, wondering “Gosh, who invented this?!”

Urban legend has it that Jennings Cox, a mining engineer that did some work in the little Cuban beach town of Daiquiri, invented the drink back in the early 1900′s when he ran out of gin while entertaining American guests. It is more likely that the drink evolved naturally due to the prevalence of lime and sugar in the area though. Either way, we know that it was created in the town of Daiquiri, hence the name!

Originally, the delicious drink was served up on cracked ice packed tightly into a tall glass. You would then add a teaspoon of sugar and carefully pour it over the ice. Add the juice of one or two limes plus 2 or 3 ounces of rum. Finish by stirring with a long-handled spoon and serve. Later the Daiquiri evolved to be served with shaved ice and shaken, not stirred.

I’ve read that the Daiquiri first became popular back in the 1940′s when rationing during the war made vodka, whiskey, etc, seemingly hard to find. Because of Roosevelt’s “Good Neighbor Policy”, also known as ‘The Pan-American program’, made Latin America seem more fashionable, which helped allow us to trade and travel more easily with places like Cuba and the Caribbean. When rum became more easily obtained, rum-based drinks (once thought of as a drink for sailors and the like) also became somewhat fashionable, and we then saw the Daiquiri soar in popularity here in the USA.

The 2011 swimwear season is promising to be a very colorful season, based on what was shown during this year’s Fashion Week Swim in Miami. Plush Swimwear, an online boutique specialized in designer swimwear notes that swimsuits showcased in Miami were mostly vibrant, composed of playful patterns in vivacious palettes for an effect that will be sure to make heads turn next season.

In terms of colors, the swimwear forecast is for lots of vivid blue-green, deep oranges and fuchsia hues. For prints, designers are playing with these intense colors in tribal patterns and animal prints in unusual colors.
