Today’s Outfit: Maxi Dress from Ideeli

Valerie Maxi Dress

I’m 33 weeks pregnant now, due August 24th. Not technically “today’s” outfit, I wore this gorgeous Valerie Maxi Dress on Monday and just had to share it with you. I purchased it on ideeli several weeks ago and I absolutely adore this dress. It was love at first sight!

It’s made of a very lightweight and breathable cotton material and although it’s not maternity, it has enough room for my belly. I also love that it’s a bit on the short side for a maxi dress, so it ended up being the perfect length for my short 5’3″ figure.

I’ve worn it with Born Gladiolus Sandals as well as with Born Nordi Sandals.

I can’t find anything about the brand “Valerie” online, but the tag says it’s made in Bali. I’m not sure where you can purchase Valerie clothes from and I had never even heard of the brand before I saw it on ideeli. I didn’t really care what the brand was, when I saw this dress, I just knew I had to have it.

The description of the sale from the ideeli site read:

“Sometimes the journey is the destination. When Miami-based designer Valerie Levy took at trip to Bali to get away from the pressures of everyday life, she found herself at home amidst all the lush foliage, flowers, and intoxicating scents of the tropical paradise. Setting out to capture that same feeling in her designs so that other women could enjoy it, she created Valerie, a collection of sultry dresses that evoke an immediate sense of nirvana when you put them on. Colorful tropical prints and soft tie-dye fabrics call to mind exotic beaches, palm trees, and relaxation. Sexy plunging V-necklines and comfortable empire waistlines embellished with fringe or lace are like Shangri-La in a dress, perfect for a calm day at the beach or a casual night out. Just throw them into your suitcase and go!”

I get so many compliments on the dress everytime I wear it. This dress definitely gets some attention, but not in a bad way. It’s just very eclectic and hippie styled. I’m absolutely thrilled I will still get to keep on wearing it after I give birth because it’s not a maternity dress.

Tell me what you think of this dress in the comments!

Today’s Outfit: 4th Of July

I’m loving my Softspots Caylee wedge sandals. They are SO comfortable and the little wedge helps make my pregnant, swollen ankles look a bit thinner, making me feel a whole lot better about wearing shorts in public!

Happy 4th of July everybody! God bless America and thank the Lord we are still a free country!!

Today’s Outfit: Kirsten Borrink in Tsubo Asmik

I wish I could say I wore them out dancing, as they’d be perfect for such an evening. The wedge heel gives me a little height without the teeter-totter feel.

The Shoes:
The extra cushioning at the forefoot and heel make the Tsubo Asmik even more foot-friendly. But alas, I wound up wearing them to the California Pizza Kitchen and sat in a booth eating my suburban fare. But my feet looked cute. See, not only is the Asmik comfy and stylish, it makes my foot look dainty! My size 10 feet looked dainty! Alert the press…  The Tsubo Asmik is available @ Zappos for $140 (fits true to size and width).

The Outfit:
My girlfriend who has a knack for putting together smashing outfits on a budget asked me to go “resale-ing” with her last weekend. After bagging a few tops at the Goodwill, she drove me to The Clothes Mentor here in the western suburbs of Chicago. Amigas mias, you must check the store locater to see if there’s one near you. I found this snow leopard sweater for $7, the silver circles necklace for $3 plus a new with tags Ann Taylor dress for $20 and a Gap buffalo plaid shirt for $8. You’ll find plenty of designer names and current styles. The shoe selection is incredible!

Sweater: Express (from The Clothes Mentor consignment shop)
Necklace: vintage (from the Clothes Mentor–was $3!)
Pants: 7 for All Mankind from TJ Maxx
Belt: Nine West from TJ Maxx

Today’s Outfit: FitFlop Billow Mules in Camel

fitflop_billow1

No, those aren’t Ugg boots! They are Fitflop Billow mules in Camel and I like them very much!!

The lovely people at FitFlop are too cheap to send me a pair, so I had to save up and buy myself a pair… on eBay. I got them for $60 with free shipping, which isn’t an amazing deal, but it was better than nothing. They retail for $99 so I got them for like 40% off and they are bran new. So I was quite pleased.

Today’s Outfit: Kirsten Borrink in Born Della Clogs

Kirsten Borrink from BarkingDogShoes.com has another fabulous outfit to go with her new Born Della clogs!

‘Tis the season for berry red patent clogs. I first reviewed this comfortable shoe back in July, but find myself wearing the Born Della more as the oranges and russets of fall fade making way for cooler, crisper colors of the coming season. I also wear these more because they’re just fabulously foot-friendly.

If Dansko or Sanita clogs are too hard on the soles of your feet, try a pair of these lightweight, cushioned clogs by Born. The fit is fantastic, with moderate arch support and plenty of room for the toes. You can even adjust the width across the instep–those silver buckles not only look cool, they’re functional!

I’ve had some bad experiences with other open-back clogs- I start walking at a faster clip and send one flying into the air. Not so with these; they stay put.

Normally I wear the Born Della with jeans, but decided to dress them up today with tights, pleated skirt, black turtleneck sweater and my favorite necklace passed on to me from my mom–I think it’s from Israel? All this to show you it’s truly a versatile little shoe.

Today’s Outfit: Kirsten Borrink

I absolutely adore Kirsten from BarkingDogShoes.com! She’s one of those most fashionable mommies I know and wanted to show you ladies how a mom of 2 can look great and be comfortable, all while staying on a budget!

So here is Today’s Outfit by Kirsten Borrink!

If I could update my wardrobe from one catalog, it would be Garnet Hill. Now that I’m 41, I have to choose my clothes more carefully as not to appear Forever 21 or on the flip-side, Forever Appleseed’s.

But aye, here’s the rub. Garnet Hill clothing, as lovely as it may be, is too pricey for this budget-conscious mom of two. After eying a gray sweater dress for close to $100 in said catalog, I harnessed my deal-finding powers and headed to TJ Maxx. Look what I found! A two-tone charcoal gray and black sweater dress for $29.99 (brand is London Times, which I only found online at Overstock). To complete the outfit, I added a necklace from Francesca’s Collections ($27.99), purple Hue tights from TJ Maxx ($9.99), button bracelet from Greece(gift from my aunt) and my beloved Sofft Mela slouch boots from last season.

You can find the Sofft Mela boot on clearance for $99 at The Walking Company.

Sofft has a similar Sofft Vittoria style called the Vittoria that is even more stylish than the Mela. The Vittoria has a fold-over cuff and bow detail in the back. Other than that, it’s just an updated version of the Mela!

Today’s Outfit: Camo Pants

to_camo1

Okay, so today I’m wearing these pleated camo pants I got on Victoria’s Secret website in July for only $14.99. Of course they aren’t on there now because they sold out, but there are similar new Fall styles on there like these cuff bottom utility pants.

I find VS sizes to be unreliable. I bought a similar pair, same London Jean brand, same material even, in a size 4 and they were a little too small. So I got these in a size 6 and they are quite big. They fit me more like a size 8. I’m not sure why, but it makes me leery of buying more pants from VS. Has anyone else had this problem?

These are cuffed pants, but I roll them up to give them more of a boyfriend style. I’m wearing them with my Indigo by Clarks “Tofu” Sandals so that I don’t look short and wide. lol I got these awesome and very comfortable sandals for only $39 during a Clarks Boutique on RueLaLa.com. Right now, they are on sale on Amazon.com for only $28.78. You’ll find it in all 7 colors too, but they vary in price so take a look.

Anyway, this frumpy looking black shirt is actually my favorite shirt in the world. It’s a sleepwear shirt from Target and it’s the softest, most perfectly shaped shirt ever. It might look frumpy folded up, but it looks great on because the material is thin and it hangs just right. I love it!

I wasn’t sure what to wear for accessories, so I went with the Attitude Bracelet from Twisted Silver. It’s funky and light weight, so it’s a standby accessory of mine. I haven’t quite figured out how to rock the boyfriend style with camo pants, so any suggestions would be helpful! I didn’t know whether to go with a layered necklace to tone down the camouflage print or whether to play it up with a wide belt and some big hoops – Rihanna style. What do you think???
